Seriously though, what someone else said, the Wii isn't catered to your more "hardcore" gamer, and even this generation they actually feel like they have "caught up" just in time for the next consoles to come out soon-ish

The people that post on this website tend to fall into the "hardcore" category more than any other video game category, so you end up with a lot of backlash in Nintendo threads.

I will one day probably own the WiiU, just simply so I can play the next iteration of Zelda and Smash Bros.

You can't sell over 97 million units to just kids and soccer moms.

playing =/= selling FWIW

Nintendo is a 1 dimensional console that is VASTLY behind the 2 other players in almost every category. It deserves all the hate it gets. Its horrible. I dont care how many versions they make the Wii in. It STiinks

Its good for 1 game type. Single player. No DVD/Blu ray. Next to 0 entertainment value outside of its intened use (gaming)No party up XBL/PSN game play. Minuscule variety of game types outside the "nintendo" brand.

In short, unless you like 1 game style ,Ie Zelda,Mario,Sonic-eske type games , Its completely usleless.

Thats what it even means.

It may not have a robust online offering like PSN or XBL, but your statement is incredibly stupid. Wii is a local multiplayer focused console. Without things like New Super Mario Bros., Brawl, Mario Kart, and Wii Sports, it wouldn't be popular. Those are all multiplayer focused games.

The only Wii megahit that is single player is Wii Fit.

You think Mario, Zelda, metroid games are all of the same play style?

All which most people have grown out of. When i think of Wii i think of a child based console. Many people have grown out of it and want to play shoot em ups or many other types of games that the other systems offer.

are you taking credit for possibly the dumbest name Ive ever seen created to disparage a group?

I'm not taking credit for anything (and I'm certainly not the first to use the term). It's just my thoughts on the matter. I'm also not trying to disparage a group at all really. It's just a matter of a similarity of userbases. A website like TD has mostly males 18-24, which are the largest consumers of PS3 and 360. Games like Battlefield, CoD, and Madden are the most talked about games here, and all of which are most popular on Ps3 and 360. It becomes a cyclical trend where you have a large bias of users whose experience with Nintendo is very limited this generation. This leads to silly hate, albeit justified in many ways, and ignorant posting.

Secondly, other than that ridiculous name, what in the frick does all that even mean?

It's a general reference, speaking of my personal use here, to the type of casual gamer who buys 3 or 4 games a year, very rarely going outside their comfort zone with genres or series. Again, these are your college-aged males who while spend a large amount time gaming, rather do so outside of FPS, MMO, and racing games. I'd typically associate frats with this group.

I hope there never comes a day that I feel too old to enjoy a genre or game type. I can understand growing out of children's games (such as Dora the Explorer, Ben 10, etc.), but Mario and Smash do not fit that billing at all. They're aimed to all age groups.

For it being a child based console, I suppose you could say that. People said the same about the Gamecube, but like the Wii, it had its fair share of adult games. They're just not giant hits like Gears of War or Halo, so people don't know they exist. Not sure what they can do really as they still got CoD every year and it sold marginally well (much less than the HD versions of course).
