The dudebros are strong in this thread..

I think the Wii is worth it just for the Wii Shop. You can download many great N64, SNES, NES, Genesis games plus many other systems.

Its also worth it to me just to play the new Mario and Zelda.

It's impossible to read any thread relating to any Nintendo console like the Wii U without Nintendo haters popping up. Nintendo is the only major game company still committed to providing fun and unique gameplay experiences and all of their first party games are of the highest quality. Face it if it wasn't for Nintendo your precious Xbox of playstation wouldn't exist.

You couldn't be more wrong. Yeah, Nintendo revived the video game industry in the mid 80s but once Sony and Microsoft came into the game, Nintendo has done nothing but try and ride on the coattails of Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong and try to sell itself as solely a gaming console which the majority of entertainment consumers DO NOT want! Consumers want something that will do multiple things which the Playstation and XBox does do.

Let's not forget that the Wii is pretty much a Gamecube with a different control setup, which put Nintendo one generation behind now, The Wii U is the equivilant of the PS3 and X360 sans CD and DVD capabilities. Wii doesn't have high definition graphics, it doesn't play CD's or DVD's something that Sony and Microsoft has been able to boast for the last 11-12 years. The motion controls that got the casual gamers to buy Wii's have now been emulated by Sony and Microsoft and I only find the motion controls as a novelty that I personally got tired of.

My wife bought a Wii last week and it is the 4th Wii have had in 6 years because everytime we bought it, we would play it for a month and then it would collect dust, and then we would sell it or trade it in. This time my wife got it for our 6 year old son and we are getting him into gaming playing the old NES games on there.

Nintendo will regret its business model in the very near future especially once the PS4 and XBox 720 come out.

I'm pretty sure MS and Sony would trade places with Nintendo after the monetary results of this generation.

What generation are you talking about? The current one (PS3, X360, Wii) or the next (PS4, X720, Wii U). If Wii U is the next generation it will suffer greatly once PS4 and X720 come out. Microsoft and Sony learned from their current consoles mistakes and I'm sure their systems will be eons better than Wii U. Look at how Microsoft rebounded from the RROD problems to the restyled XBox 360S and it's XBox Live apps.

The best thing about the wii is homebrewing it, downloading all of the emulators, and playing every NES, SNES, and 64 game on your Gamecube / Classic Controller Pro / Wiimote

Unless you like Mario or Zelda there is zero reason to own the wii or wii u. Both will be relegated to shitty previous generation multiplats with a sprinkle of gimmick bullshite.

Yep. I've heard that we may see one or both of these franchises at E3. Here's to hoping!

I'm still on the fence about the WiiU.. I'm actually on the fence on "new" consoles as a whole, I have actually been spending a lot of time on my handheld console as of late - and my custom PC.. but F-Zero has the ability to make me buy a console.

Why would you seriously spend money on the WiiU at this point? I mean its cpu is 3 wii processors taped together, pretty much precluding it from playing actual next generation titles and next gen multiplats. It has trouble with current gen multiplats.

Because Kirby, a console rts, and donkey kong are AAA killer apps right? SSB and Metroid are the only games you mentioned worth playing, unless you are 5 of course.
