Why would you seriously spend money on the WiiU at this point? I mean its cpu is 3 wii processors taped together, pretty much precluding it from playing actual next generation titles and next gen multiplats. It has trouble with current gen multiplats

more and more people are going back to PC gaming, the smart phone market is putting a damper on gaming, and people as a whole aren't going to buy into the "generational gaming" model anymore.. if anything else, Nintendo is going to be the only console that succeeds AGAIN next gen. I wouldn't be so sure the ps4 or xbox 720 are going to be such a hit, in fact, I predict Microsoft or Sony to not even be in the gaming marketing in 10 years.. Nintendo will still be around.

When it comes to graphics, 80% of the market doesn't care.. did the Wii brand hurt Nintendo's name? Sure, but I don't think it hurt it enough to knock it out of the 8th Generation of gaming.. in fact, I predict when it comes to sales figured, Nintendo will still be ahead this generation.. again.

Mario, Zelda, and the Wii Shop is enough to sell me on it.

Because Kirby, a console rts, and donkey kong are AAA killer apps right? SSB and Metroid are the only games you mentioned worth playing, unless you are 5 of course.

wait.. are you calling Star Fox, F-Zero, and Fire Emblem.. 5 year-old games?

Also: Mistwalker and Monolith Soft are first party developers for Nintendo now.. all extremely deep companies that came out of Square Soft..

Because I like Nintendo games. I have PC thats spec'd much higher than the rumored 720 and PS4 specs, and it'll be used for the 'next gen' multiplats. But it can't play Nintendo games.

people don't realize how strong PC gaming has become over the last few years either, I really think that the rise in PC gaming alone will actually be the reason Nintendo wins gen 8 as well.

Considering that most people don't even know what a fricking wii u is I doubt it. There were WiiUs lying around gamestop for weeks after launch.

I'm serious, this is going to become more and more of the case from this point on. Consoles DO NOT SELL in the first year anymore.

I currently bought a VITA - the sales for the VITA were downright awful.. for a year after the release. After the year mark hit - and new games started coming out - sales have almost caught up with the 3DS.

The 3DS was selling awful, after a year they did a price cut, and released a bunch of new games for it.. the sales quadrupled.. people are less likely to buy consoles or gaming systems during the release year than ever before. Especially because most gamers are building their own PCs that are much MUCH more powerful than even what the next gen will be, and getting their games from steam for half the cost of a console game.

But once games that can only be found on that system start coming out.. sales increase exponentially, that's why Ninty wins this gen: because they have the most exclusive gaming lineup of any of the consoles.. in fact, they have more exclusive games - than both consoles combined.

Nintendo had the fewest AAA exclusive titles this generation. If you are picking a console for great exclusive games you are picking the wrong one.

If you aren't playing non-exclusive games on your PC, you are throwing your $$$ down the drain, and fricking yourself over by not having the best graphics..

See how that works?

Yeah man, Steam's active user numbers have completely skyrocketed over the past 2 years. That platform is huge now.

You realize the Vita is almost a dead console at this point? It's sad, because it's my favorite handheld, but there is no monetary interest for devs to make AAA games for it. The announced bioshock for vita hasn't even started development because there are discussions that the user base is too small and that to break even the game would need an insane attach rate. Comparing the WiiU to the VITA isn't the best idea.

Nintendo has fewer critically acclaimed exclusives then Microsoft or Sony this gen and they sell less.

Considering I have a gaming pc and buy all single player multiplats on it, your argument holds no weight. I play consoles for their exclusives and huge multiplayer online services. Nintendo has easily the worst of both.

yet they still sold: Worldwide: 97.18 million Wiis

compared to:

Worldwide: 70 million sold for the 360

and that's with the 360's highest bought game being a "game that comes pre-packaged with the system" Kinect Adventures (18 million sold)

while the Wii's highest selling game actually had to be bought:

Mario Kart Wii, 32.44 million, and that's as of March of this year!

Go on..

so i see we switched from entertainment value to monetary production value.... how exciting.

I did not. He said that Nintendo will suffer, and I pointed out that they have not and will not.

The least most powerful console has sold the most every single generation (NES -> SNES -> PS1 -> PS2 -> Wii). That trend has yet to break.

I'm not commenting on the new generation because I have no idea what MS and Sony will bring, but I am I excited!
