Not only that, but it sets up for a KILLER third game. Then I could even see pulling in a dynamic system for Ellie, her choices leading her down the path of revenge or moving on as Joel would probably want her to (and real choices, not a "only the last choice matters" like some games do).

19 hours in. Gameplay is ok. I like the combat arenas. They feel like multiplayer maps. The game is way too generous with supplies. Survivor mode is basically normal mode for the first game. I finally just started Rambo-ing each area because I kept maxing out on craftables. I’m just used to Grounded in 1 being way stingier and needing to play much more stealthily.
Story is still arse. In the first game, ND really touted how grounded the story and characters were. I agree. It gave the first game a believable world. I think that’s why so many people enjoyed it. But now we have a gay chick, a bi chick, a cuckhold, a roided ma’am, a shemale and a host of soyboys acting out a really bad season of The Walking Dead. It’s like if The Incredible Hulk had an entire season to himself in Breaking Bad. It just breaks everything. Then the Hulk gets banged from behind by Skinny Pete.
The flashbacks are bittersweet. It’s like the game I want to play and story I want to experience is buried under an avalanche of bad games I don’t want. I’m playing as Abby now. This is really stupid. But I’m a trooper. Gotta see it through.
My wife keeps making fun of me for the Abby/Not Neil Druckman buttfrick scene. “Oh, so that’s why you wanted to play this so badly.” “You nail any more trannys yet?” “Are you going to get me a gym membership for my birthday?”

Yeah definitely with you on the too many supplies. I feel like my guns/character are way too accurate as well. I don't remember being able to pop off head shots this easily in the first one but maybe I am wrong.
I am still Ellie as of now. I have to say they did a great job with the relationship/dynamic between Ellie and Dina.

It's many peoples favorite game ever. TLOU is either 1a or 1b for me. Joel was a big reason why. Does not matter how many games he was in.
