What type of gun was he carrying? Would have been cool for it to have been unique

Just hit Epilogue Part 1.
Arthur dying was not a surprise at all, even before ever playing the game I think most people would have predicted him dying, just because of the first game's ending.
Getting to play all the post game content as John was a huge surprise I never saw coming and def. a welcome one.
Arthur was ok but he pales in comparison to John. John has was more personality and is more likeable.
Are there multiple endings? In the last mission I chose to follow John rather than go back and get the money, does that change anything?

Yep apparently there are 3 endings to the Arthur part of the story.
Go with John - While having High Honor
Go with John - While having Low Honor
Go back for the money

Is there anyway to play as Arthur in the western territories without getting molested by lawmen?
I want to load an earlier save where the gang is all still alive but I would like to be able to go to New Austin.

Probably not. I'm sure someone will figure out a way to do it via glitch or something. By design they want Arthur's story to center around the gang and they are progressing eastward away from the West where they are wanted.
Plus they want it to be sort of a dramatic effect seeing John go back to the West setting up RDR1.

Beat the game and roamed around with John for awhile in New Austin. Pretty cool to check out all the old areas from rdr1. Fort Mercer is a gang hideout for the Lobos and everyone is dying of cholera in Armadillo. I need to run another playthrough so I can knock out all the side missions. Had a good bit disappear after Arthur died.
Oh RIP Hamish. That damn boar did him in.

I was thinking wander over there and use the cheat to lower wanted level, but that probably won’t work in the western territories for Arthur.
Kind of annoying Rockstar won’t let you do that

With a lot of the areas from RDR1 already made, wonder if they will ever do a remaster?

Oh, I definitely crawled into the sunlight. Good ending achieved

I don’t know how rockstar pulled it off, but they made me like Arthur more than John.
Similar to going from John to Jack in RDR1, going from Arthur to John in RDR2 felt like a downgrade. And I like John quite a bit.

I like John more than Arthur but a main character switch is sort of weird thing to do regardless.
Especially because in this case the last 20% of the story is John.
In RDR1 you only had 1 post game "story" mission with Jack. You were stuck with him in the open world free roam postgame but that's all sorta optional completionist stuff.
It sort of robs the emotional impact of Arthur's arc and death to put him aside and play as John for another dozen hours.
Some games where the main character dies do this thing where the world resets to just before the final mission after you clear the game. That way you can do all the side stuff and completionist stuff with the main character at your leisure.
They wanted the John missions to happen though, I was a bit surprised there were so many of them.

I liked the John Missions.
He is a different person that Arthur so he should play differently.
I do think they should have made John younger. Maybe 15-18. That would make a bit more sense with him being kinda dopey at the beginning

I had to go back to a saved game I had (52%) I like playing with Arthur and picking up side missions I missed on the first pass.
I just wish I had an earlier save than 52%. I want to go back to the Braithwaite/Gray missions back in Rhodes but I don’t want to do the intro missions.

I just finished the main story. Wow. Rockstar made an incredible series here. I figured Author would die considering his illness. I didn't see Micah blowing his head off though. That was a surprise that left my jaw dropped.
I wish they would have kept the tuberculous to a minimum. I feel like I played half the game sick. Maybe just get it closer towards the end.
To see John grow from being a little runt to the bad arse he is in rdr is awesome. To tie in fishing with Jack and Author to the ending in RDR is storytelling at it's finest. R* really knocked this game out of the park.
