You know why I don't build my computer? It's because I wouldn't know how to. It's funny that you arrogant douchebags somehow think there's something wrong with a person who doesn't build their own computer. Not everyone in the world has the time, desire, knowledge or ability to build their own computer. I'd rather have someone else do it and know that it's done properly. It's also really amusing that you think there's something really special about building your own computer.

As for "getting my nails" dirty: you know what I am good at designing and building? Precision rifles, "tactical" or "sniper" rifles if you laymen want to think of it that way. I can build a sub-MOA rifle that will put 10 rounds inside 3" at 300 yards (that just so happens to be the same test that Marine Armorers use for the M40's before they'll even send them out to the Fleet). It's one of the benefits of knowing a former Scout Sniper with Force Recon in Vietnam. And not only can I build such a rifle, you can put me behind that rifle and I'll nail that test regardless of wind, temperature, humidity and a bunch of other factors you guys know shite about. Should I give you guys shite if you don't own firearms, or if you do but don't work on them yourselves? Or if you'd be lucky to even hit the fricking target at 100 yards? Your skills in that particular field are literally non-existent compared to mine. Obviously the answer is no, I wouldn't give you shite about that stuff because different people are into different things and possess different skill sets.

So you guys need to chill the frick out and stop being assholes simply because someone doesn't build their own computer. I guarantee any rifle I put together is a hell of a lot more complicated than any computer you've ever built. And long distance precision shooting is a hell of a lot more complicated, and difficult, than anything you can do with a computer. So calm down for Christ's sake.

Oh, and as for my car, it's not a lack of knowledge that keeps me from working on it. I worked on my M5 all the time when I had it throughout college. Let's see some of you work on a car with a $30,000 dollar engine. I don't work on my car now for two reasons: don't have the time, and it's under warranty including maintenance. Why do it myself when I can take it do the dealer and they'll do it for free? Again, you guys are idiots.

I built a house for an engineer once and even though I had up to that point probably built 100 houses, that engineer acted like he knew more than me. He didn't of course or else he would have built his own house.

That would be relevant except for one tiny fact: I have, on multiple occasions, stated throughout this thread that people in here know WAY more than I do when it comes to computers. Nice try, though.

I have no problems there, buddy. I'm not the nerd freaking out and and thinking it's hilarious that someone isn't building their computer themselves.

I can handle jokes, but this shite has gone on for pages now and I even asked if we could just drop it. They're being dicks and it's actually kind of funny because they're giving me shite over a computer and building it myself, as if building a computer is the coolest, most badass thing someone can do. I guess it is for some people here, but that just shows what sad lives they lead.

I've been catching shite for pages now, that's not just a little ribbing. And I'm not flipping my shite. I'm just providing a little ribbing myself. See how that works?

If you're ever in Florida stop by and we can head down to the range. We'll see if you can appreciate a little ribbing there, sport.

Well, with some of the shite I've done with PCs over the years, that's debatable. However, if I were rifle shopping (which is a plausible scenario because I love me some guns), and you told me there was a rifle that would do everything I needed, based on my limited skill level, for half the cost, and that I should take that cost savings and put it towards something more tangibly useful like a better scope, or gun case, cleaning kit, other hunting gear, etc., I'd listen.

Tom, I have probably owned more firearms than you have ever seen.

Well, isn't that ironic. Way to go, genius. And how many firearms you have owned has jack shite to do with how competent you are as a shooter or your knowledge level and skill set when it comes to working on them, building them, and using them. And I've owned a pretty decent amount of firearms, although probably not as much as you. Quality trumps quantity you know. And I know for a fact that you haven't owned more guns than I've ever seen.

You must be an idiot to have drawn that conclusion.

Congrats. But if you chose to disregard some or all of my advice for the sole reason that the build you were looking at made you happy then I'd be totally cool with it and wish you the best. If you get something just because you enjoy it that's all the justification you need in my book.

I have built a few. Not sniper rifles because LOL no one does that outside of the military or a competition shooter maybe and those guys are mostly worried about speed with a pistol anyway.

I only need precision to deer hunt and for that I have a choice of using my 270 WSM, 7MM Ultra Mag or 300 Ultra Mag. All more than capable of bringing down a elephant much less the whitetail LA has.

I have built a few AR's though and have another receiver to build another one.

Although I want a bullpup next.

I do find it funny that you are so good at building the best guns on the planet apparently but are scared to touch a plug and play PC build.

I guess mostly because I am the type of person that thinks if one man can do it then I can too. There's not much out there that an average person can do that I don't think I could learn to do myself.

I think it gives you a better understanding of things if you do learn to do as much as you can on your own but I am also very curious and meticulous like that.

To each their own though.
