It's such a fricked up thing because it worked fine at launch....no idea what happened.

I thought I was a hardcore gamer, but it's obvious I'm not when it comes to mobile games... I could care less if they have the tracker, I'm having a blast with my friends / co-workers / and family... it's just fun, and I could care less about the tracker thing

Question about what I am missing:
I started playing 6 days after release.
I was on a learning curve and the first week or so I was just about collecting new one's and not snatching up commons for candy and stardust. I play hard. I work in the field and have the game up and running 8 hours a day or so.
I'm two weeks in playing correctly as far as evolving and all that stuff.
Still, though, all of the gyms around me are all of the sudden locked down by people that have multiple 1800+ CP pokemons. One dude around here has the top CP in four gyms and they are all 1600+. I have busted my arse and I have one around 1100 and a couple around 800 and a bunch 500-700.
What the hell are guys like that doing that I am not?

I'm not big on the tracker either. Always got me pumped for no reason bc I'm gonna be where I'm gonna be. I'm not going on people's property as I'm pretty covert about this game as it is. Only thing it's done is brought me on trails, parks and boardwalks more.
Side note,it's definitely a grind after 21. A lucky egg won't give you a level anymore. I did a full 30 mins of evolving with a luck egg and when it ran out still had some evolves. Only half of the 100k I needed to get to 23...

I know it's dorky but I got on a private Facebook page. "Team mystic: your town".
I only have up to 1700 and hold gyms with 1300. Get on the Facebook page and tell people I'm about to hit these 6 gyms on ___ street and they'll all come reinforce usually within the hour.
I hold gyms longer with better people obviously.

I think it comes down to catching all of the pidgey, weedle, caterpie, and rattata's you see along with a ton of egg hatching.
I'm lvl 22 and have 27 pokemon over 1k CP. Most of this comes from hatching a shite ton of eggs to help supplement the uncommons I am catching in the wild. I've hatched 118 eggs so far.

the subreddit for pokemon go has been shitpost central since the new update, people on there are going balls to the wall to frick with Niantic. Im pretty pissed about the tracking thing, its basically at this point them saying "oops cant fix it, just take the shite out completely"

Yeah, that's where the disconnect happens. I do all of that and 27 pokemons over 1000 seems unimaginable.
I can't fathom anyone being able to play more than I do working on the road and I have one Pokemon over 1000. I hit probably 25 stops a day.
It's just a complete mystery to me how you could do that.
I guess I'm just gonna forget the gyms.
Sucks.

I don't find that unfeasible; I've logged 96 miles into the game; but I've only hatched 55 eggs.... I need more incubators lol

I didn't start getting consistent 1k+ pokemon until level 20. Also, most of my 1k+ pokemon have come from 10k eggs and evolves

I'm 49 minutes away from holding a gym for the reward. Keep checking every 5 minutes it feels like to see if anyone's taken it.
