Had a similar thing happen. Caught 580cp Growlithe that popped as a 10cp Magikarp. I was glad I caught a mk for candy but that Growly cost me 11 great balls to catch.

Been reading about this kind of cheating and how the bans are only temporary (and a matter of minutes if you don't teleport to other countries). If there are no permabans for this, I imagine it's going to ruin the game pretty quickly. And I'm sure, if it hasn't happened yet, someone could probably write a script to just farm anything and everything and visit pokestops automatically all day long.

Its already happened, streamers on twitch stream themselves doing this all day hitting up the best pokestop areas.

I can't understand why people would be upset about a Magikarp in a 2km egg. I guess if you live near a Magikarp nesting area then you don't need them but I have only ever come across 2 in the wild because I don't live or work close enough to water or wherever they nest at the moment. When I get one in an egg it is one I can transfer plus the 10-15 candies which are badly needed to one day get to 400.

It seems like the latest update made shite way harder. People are reporting getting less pokeballs at stops and pokemon being harder to catch.

I hit 30 pokestops today and got 38 regular balls and burned through them because every catch was requiring 3 or 4 balls even for low CP commons.

I only got 11 great balls on 30 pokestops and commons were breaking out of them as well.

Sucks.

Me neither. Hell, I'm still catching 200+ cp pokemon with poke balls. Collected probably a dozen or so balls (poke, great, and ultra) from 4 or 5 stops on the way home.

Hatched a 800+ cp lickitung from a 5k egg yesterday. Only 10k egg I have hatched so far was a 1100+ aerodactyl, but I have one more about to hatch!!
