It's stupid not to play with your follower IMO. It will only help ya. I couldn't imagine playing my wizard without the Templar as a tank.

I haven't used one yet through normal mode (it wasn't needed at all) but it just seems to take away from part of the game for some reason. The first time I got the templar, I was like, "wtf...screw this guy I can handle this" and sent him back to town.

Clearly it's all about how each individual feels like playing and I may give it a shot sometime, but I just haven't had a desire to use one yet.

ya wish i could use one of the other companions, but all ive played with thus far is the wizard and the templar is the best since im ranged. his stunning blow and heals is what i specked him as and it comes in hella handy alot. tried playing with the enchantress some but died alot easier.

also i mute my volume so dont have to listen to them talk. listen to music or watch tv ftw

aside from the added dps/defense spells/heals that he/she would add to your fights, you can also stack magic find or experience gained from killing monsters on your companion. adding to what your main toon already has equipped.

as a barb i used templar on normal for the heals, then went to enchantress and finally the scoundrel works well with the barb in nightmare just started hell last night..... i also started a hardcore monk, got to level 5 and almost died to one of those unique monsters and stopped playing... i was to antsy in the pantsy

ETA: in hell mode, dieing is just something you do... like repairing

In Act IV on normal still, and I've just been buying gear from the AH for my character as I've been collecting a lot of gold. Now that I have about +100,000g should I keep spending it on decent gear or level up my blacksmith or/and jeweler?

I haven't leveled blacksmithing for a while. I just ended up finding decent gear people put on the AH for cheap.

I leveled up my Blacksmith and found it to be a waste when compared to the AH.

I find Act 3 blows so far. It's just a bunch of worthless "light the fires," "raise the catapults," "destroy the ballistae" quests and I don't think it's fun at all so far. I just got into the tower.

I just started a wizard and noticed my dps went up when I gave him a spear. Does a spear really make my spells be more powerful?

All of your spells damage is based on your damage, your damage is your weapons dps with a multiplier based on your intellect

Yeah, what jumb said. Kinda put me off on playing the wizard. Don't want to be running around with axes and shite as a wizard. But then again, the higher level wands are going to be the weapons with a lot of +int on them, so most wizards will end up using them anyway.
