Never played the original, so I'm definitely in.

I know people miss the old style AC games, but the combat in the trailer.......I'm pretty hype.
And the stealth system. I'm ready for this.

I'm still not convinced Ubisoft can make video games anymore.

AC Black Flag Resynced: HUD Deep Dive!
-Ubisoft is bringing "Modern Immersion" to the Caribbean.
-Fully Modular HUD: Toggle every element (VFX, health bars, etc.) or use presets from "Default" to "Disabled."
-New Combat Depth: Introduction of a 'Defense' mechanic. Break an enemy's stance for takedowns—watch for their hat to fall off if you play HUD-less!
-No RPG Stats: Devs confirm NO levels, NO gear scores, and NO progression gates.
-Contextual UI: Elements only appear when needed to keep your screen clean while sailing.
-Deep Customization: Every element (blood effects, VFX, enemy indicators, etc.) can be toggled individually.

We got a host of new information on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced via a Ubisoft AMA, some disappointing and some exciting!
Main highlights:
- Hidden Blade combat is NOT in the remake, but there is a new ability to do hidden blade take downs in combat
- Dual swords are the primary weapon, so it seems like picking up weapons is gone
- Map size is the same but there are new islands and new locations in cities, the map is more dense with content
- Kenway’s fleet is now built into the game, no need for the companion app
- Parry noise and visual effect is being toned down after fan feedback
- All old shanties return and a host of new ones, some are related to story characters
- Auto-navigation has been added, so you can have the ship pilot itself to markers
- All side activities return including whale hunting
- There is blood but no dismemberment
- The classic wanted system is back, pirate hunters will pursue you with high notoriety
- All original outfits will return
- The bar minigames are all back
- Social stealth makes a return and is aiming to be faithful
- Memory corridor is back
- Controls are completely remappable and the HUD is fully customizable as well
- You can turn off the parry noise
- A compass was chosen to replace the mini-map in order to keep your eyes on the seas

Gameplay comparison of what I was able to record from Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced in Paris. There are some areas with an insane graphical leap that goes far beyond anything seen so far. Ubisoft is preparing a huge remake.

So this is releasing on Thursday, did anyone pre-order?
I don't have time to play it right now, but I'm wondering if the pre-order bonus (Blackbeard's Crimson Pack) will be worth it.
The outfit is cosmetic but the sword and gun have unique perks:
Crimson Sword: Boosts chain takedown momentum and extends the timing window for fatal counters following a Perfect Parry
Crimson Pistol: Features a quick-draw stagger modifier designed to break guard animations and expose enemies for immediate execution
The embargo lifts tomorrow, so hopefully at least some of the reviewers comment on the unique perks.

I pre-ordered. It releases Thursday....
which is sort of problematice for me with CFB '27 releasing the same day. I would imagine 80% of my gaming time will be CFB '27 for quite a while.
with that being said. After pre-ordering I was able to download the full game, plus Blackbeard's Crimson Pack, Master Assassin Character Pack, and the Master Assassin Naval Pack. I purchased the deluxe edition. $59.99

I haven’t committed to anything since beating Doom Dark Ages in November. Tried to start up GOW (2018) and crimson desert but neither one of them stuck. Been debating on getting this or finally giving Kingdom Come Deliverance a shot. KCD was $5 on ps store so gonna give it a shot but I’ll have my eye on this.

My wife apparently bought this for me for my bday present from last month. I guess I had remarked about it during one of the gaming shows. Wasn't gonna bother since I have BF, but kinda looking forward to it.
I'm sure it'll be a mid remaster. Asmongold has a video out of the first couple hours since Ubisoft gave out codes. Haven't watched it, though.

I gave in and just pre-ordered. I just finished Act 1 in DOS2 and I'm completely obsessed, but I couldn't resist after seeing more gameplay footage today and reading reviews

Does this game need to exist? Nope
Is it endemic of the lack of creativity in the game's industry? Absolutely
That being said, it does the new style of AC combat better than any previous title since.
A bit weird having the pretty visuals and new combat mechanics juxtaposed with mission design that beat for beat copied directly form the original.
I think a remake of the Ezio trilogy would've made a lot more sense, but plenty of people are playing.
I think there's room for new AC games that have a size/scope similar to that of Mirage but with a budget like this Black Flag Remake. The sprawling action RPG-AC titles can coexist alongside.
