Now that the dust has settled (PS/5 vs XboxSeries One)

I’ll state I don’t frequent this board enough. I’ll also state I haven’t done a search either as I am sure this may have been covered already?
I am occasional gamer. I enjoy playing, when I play. I like mostly sport games, although my daughters like some of the shoot’em up games. I am excited about the future release of college football, even if EA is doing it.
We are now several months past release dates for both platforms. I initially was leaning to Xbox because of their purchase of some gaming studio works and their monthly Netflix pricing type model. Is this still the better option as it stands today?
FWIW, I have a PS/4.

If this appeals to you, then it is absolutely the better option. Game Pass is fantastic and will only get better once the Bethesda deal is finalized. Xbox seems focused on getting a Japanese developer now.

Just get both. That's what I did.
Very little diffence between them.
Get PS5 if you feel like it has must have exclusives.
The Series X is worth it for Game Pass.
Honestly, from what you described, it sounds like the XBox is a better fit for you.

I have the PS5 and have yet to see the greatness of the console so far. The graphics are better, but not amazingly better. Does it seem smoother? Yes a little. I was prepared to be amazed like a 2021 car over a 2000 model car. Just don’t see the hoopla over it.

I’ve made $500 reselling ps5 so my vote is ps5

US sales are a bit closer. And what's crazy, I haven't seen a single XSX commercial. . .ever.
They need a better marketing team
I find it amusing that Switch is outselling both, combined, in Japan:

I mean it's the only console you can get your hands on right now, and it's affordable, and Nintendo's following in Japan is absolutely massive

This means nothing.
ETA: At this current moment, all this really means is PS5 has been able to make more consoles. Both are selling out within minutes of any becoming available.

If you are looking for a Netflix like service then yes XBox is the better one for you. Playstation does have PSNow but it streams most of its content (unlike Xbox where you download the games) so you need good internet to play the games and I find it doesn't have nearly as good of a library. That being said I have a feeling Sony will at some point have a Gamepass service of their own but if Sony 1st party lineup isnt enough to get you to want to stick with Playstation then I doubt that matters to you. I have a Xbox Series X with Gamepass and love it. Eventually I upgrade my PS4 to a PS5 but for right now I'm really enjoying the Gamepass catalog.

It means nothing because this is no longer really a console war for Microsoft. The Xbox is just another platform to them (along with mobile and PC) Gamepass and XCloud is the future.

Bc devs are not fully focused on game PS5 and Series X yet
