Go pick up a Nintendo switch. Take a deep breath or two, and download Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey.

Revisit Cyberpunk. It’s very good now.
I have and I agree. I was just saying compared to our expectations for years it was awful when it came out

The industry makes more profit off of games that have constant transactions.
Long-story RPGs don't lend themselves to that model unfortunately.

GaaS. most games want all of your attention now and not just for the 10-60 hours they take to beat but for the foreseeable future as well. i dont like it but im also part of the "problem". i have hundreds to thousands of hours in games like POE and Warthunder and Warframe and i feel like i play them infrequently.
but even games like Halo now have a battle pass. i just reinstalled Monster Hunter Rise because they released a new update and they have 2 or 3 more scheduled.
hell the new D2R ladder starts on the 6th and i will be knee deep in Meph/Baal runs for a week or 2. in fact i wonder if D2 started all of this with its Ladder seasons.

Nah, most games just aren't very good or interesting to me. I pretty much exclusively play a FromSoft game. Just depends on what I want to do at the time.
Someone already said it, but if you've never played one of their games, you should give it a shot. I didn't game for years and year and picked up DS3 one day and was instantly hooked like I was a kid again.

It's gotten to the point I don't even bother to take note of new releases anymore. If a new game is released, I know it's at least 6 more months of patches and DLC before the game is what it's supposed to be and most of the time that's still shite.

I've played a lot of the games suggested and none of them are on the list for a reason. I am playing GW2 right now, such a great MMO.

The worst and most insidious fricking thing in games.

But in the context of “gaming”, what does that matter? If the game ultimately becomes good, the game is good.
I understand people’s frustration with the industry as a whole, but if the question is whether or not there are amazingly impressive games to play right now, the answer is a resounding yes. Anyone who says no simply isn’t looking.

yes....it absolutely DOES matter when developers are conning people into paying 60-80-100 dollars to preorder a game that won't be playable for nearly a year.
It matters because, by the time the game is worth a shite, there might not be a big enough player base to support it.
People are tired of getting baited into paying full price for half of a game. That's why I refuse to pre-order. Hell....I refuse to buy a game through at least the first few weeks.
What made me say "to hell with this shite" is Warzone. Those motherfrickers with billions in revenue couldn't do a single update without creating some new game-breaking glitch. It was all the proof I needed that AAA devs DO NOT CARE about anything more than the next dollar.

Your complaint only applies to multiplayer games, which Cyberpunk is not. Also, headlines a few days ago announced that Cyberpunk’s concurrent player count on Steam was higher than The Witcher 3’s all time peak.
So again, in the context of a guy saying he has nothing to play, what does it matter what state Cyberpunk was in two years ago if it’s good now?

Some people won’t like this game but I enjoyed it. I actually liked not having a bunch of npcs to talk to.

I'm still dealing with the classic issue of I have a mountain of titles in my Steam library, and I finally got around to playing Warhammer Vermintide 2 after a friend gifted me TW: Warhammer 3. Vermtintide is ridiculously fun, and it's probably just sitting in most people's libraries after they got it for 5 bucks. That's what happened to the game for a long time for me

Vermintide 2 is a great time! I've played through it a couple times. Lots of great Warhammer games lately.

no....No it doesn't.

Cyberpunk is very much included in this. This thread isn't just about some dude being bored last weekend and not being able to figure out a game to play....it's about how shitty the current landscape of gaming is. Congrats....Cyberpunk managed to turn into a solid game a year and a half after they charged people for it. That isn't a good thing

Imagine applying that logic to a Car. You get a car back in 2020 and it's in and out of the shop constantly for 2 years. But who cares right you wasting 24 months worth of car payments on a piece of shite because now you're finally able to drive it reliably?
I'm glad I didn't waste the money buying Cyberpunk when it came out. I had a lot of friends tell me I was stupid for not jumping on the bandwagon. Two weeks later they're all pissed off and back playing other games.
