Every game gets delayed for polishing and extra dev time. Recent games that didn't get delayed have had disastrous launches so most people actually praise these delays anymore. This is completely normal in the gaming industry.
Okay great. Tell me how many times an Ubisoft game has gotten this treatment. AC games come out like clockwork in late October/early November every year except for a couple of years.

Not that this applies here but this poster also believes the Raiders to be back every year so factor that into this

be clear, there is absolutely zero chance this game fails. And I mean literally zero.
All 3 have led to massive financial losses and panicked investor calls. . .and not to mention layoffs.
Mirage was, apparently, a disappointment in regards to sales. It didn't lose money, and actually made a little, but investors told them this one needed to be a HUGE hit.
There is nothing normal or mundane about the company changing release dates so many times. They thought Feb would allow it to release without real competition. . .then KCD2, Monster Hunter Wild, and Avowed set Feb dates.
So they moved it to March. . .we'll see.
I imagine they are also re-tooling the story to de-emphasize Yasuke to try to assuage Asian audiences, and focus more on Naoeoeowo

Well that's just false but then again you said Ole Miss was winning the natty this year so.

This is from the super anti-woke IGN:
quote:
Ubisoft’s shares fell to their lowest level in the last decade in September after Ubisoft made a series of dramatic announcements around the performance of its games. As well as delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft announced a return to Steam after a period of PC launch exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, with Star Wars Outlaws recently releasing on Valve’s platform. However, the generally much-loved Assassin’s Creed Origins suffering a review-bomb campaign on Steam after a Windows PC update rendered it unplayable for some.
As part of the "strategic update" announced alongside Assassin's Creed Shadows' latest delay, Ubisoft said it had appointed "leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders." That's a lot of corporate speak that hints at a potential sale.
"This process will be overseen by the independent members of the Board of Directors," the company continued. "Ubisoft will inform the market in accordance with applicable regulations if and once a transaction materializes."
Keep pretending this is normal
Not even left wing journo rags are pretending all is well. It looks like they are trying to get it in a place to be the only major release, to beef up the stock value so they can sell. . .probably to Tencent

This is how I know they don’t have any confidence in the game’s success. They initially moved it to 2/14, which was the day after quarterly earnings.
If they thought this game would sell, they’d dump the release asap just to pad revenue and inflate their valuation for a sale. At this point, Ubi decided there’s more value in intangible IP than the revenue it creates. Make that make sense… for an IP like assassins creed.
The other possibility is once the company is sold, it allows Tencent to revamp the project because the Chinese DGAF about anyone’s feelings.

Yes it will make $1B like Valhalla just did. You gotta be pretty dumb to not realize this.

Yes, delaying video games is very much the normal and has been for many years. You must not game much if you don't know this basic thing.

This guy definitely bought a copy of Concord.

Valhalla probably would have made more had the main character been from the Middle East. Those guys are pretty solid at invading Britain.

So with all the problems listed there, is 3 months really a realistic timeline for them to fix it all?
Given all the issues seen to come down to internal “miscommunication” and “cutting corners” I give it about a 50/50 shot between being delayed again or being released in a horrible state.

Then it will be delayed again to "bring it up to Tencent standards"
