Is it safe to say the Destiny franchise is done?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Destiny has gotten so bad and removed all the RPG elements that made the first one great...

Bungie keeps making false promises. And I'm not buying their BS anymore. I won't even bother with the next expansion even though I payed for it. Anyone out there holding out hope that bungie will get their shite together?

Also, any replacement recs?

I have lost all hope. Sucks. I also bought the $100 version after all the hours I sank into D1.

It’s sad, really.

As someone who played 1 religiously since it came out all the way up to Rise of Iron, I bought the deluxe version of 2 and have only taken my characters through the story and really not much else. I don't know what it is, but it's not the same. Even though for the record I do like a good bit of the changes they made.

Part of the problem is that they have no competition. There's no other game that's threatening their market share to force them to innovate. Hopefully, that's going to change later on this year when Bioware releases Anthem. It looks like a much better third person version of Destiny. If nothing else, it should light a fire under Bungie's arse before they lose all of their playerbase. It's set to release sometime in Q4 2018 (assuming it doesn't get delayed).

They should scrap it and start over on a new IP, that studio is still one of the best in the biz I'd be interested in something new.

Glad to know I'm not the only one... Destiny 2 was such a let down... Honestly, Horizon Zero Dawn was the last really awesome game I've played lately

I've struggled with it. I have a group I can consistently raid and play trials with. Other than that, it doesn't give you any real reason to keep playing.

I gave these assholes $200.00. Paid for the $100.00 version on both PS4 and PC. They will never see another penny from me.

They're contractually obligated to release a third.

Not sure why you actively cheer for a franchise to fail. Having more good games works out for everyone.

3 months on the PS4 didn't show you enough to maybe cancel that PC pre-order?

I'm disappointed at what Bungie has done to the series, but I think the person you should be mad at for "wasting" $200 is yourself.

Lazy, paywall-laced rehashes aren’t good for anyone except the publisher.

I did not play Destiny 1, but I got D2 with the new GPU I purchased a couple months ago and decided to try it out.

I can't remember a game I've lost interest in quicker than Destiny 2. I'm with most people here, I don't really know why. I just don't want to play it anymore. Didn't even finish the campaign.

It's tough because I love the gunplay. But shallow customization, no real end game, and a poor loot system trump gunplay.

Huh?

The allure of Destiny and games like them fades somewhat when you realize how they are all structured to keep you chasing a character on a stick long enough for them to pump out the next bit of DLC that they can get more money from you for.

The difference is D1 had lots of carrots and some of them were on very long sticks. D2 has none of that. They should have just kept expanding D1 forever.

The strikes along with repetitive monotonous gameplay has killed it for me. And the retarded drop system is annoying as frick even though its been like that since D1. But its worse for 2. I would enjoy only to play with friends. I find it boring as frick solo and even with friends its just not as fun anymore. I hope they do something big with the next expansion.
