Is encountering the Lynel for the first time now one of the greatest gaming moments ever?

I remember thinking that an old man lured me there against my will, and then I looked off in the distance on something I had no idea what it was. I just kept looking at it, and then it charged at me. I just remember thinking "Holy frick" when it took me out in one jab. I was terrified of them for the rest of the game. I remember sneaking around Hyrule Castle and thinking I found a shortcut, and then the gates shut and the fricking Lynel is there. It might be the most terrifying enemy of all time to encounter.

I got had the same way.

Wandering through the dessert and never saw it before. Tried to study it from a distance to see if it revealed any movement patterns for battle analysis. Engaged via horseback to size him up when the previous method proved to bare no fruit. Realized I was outclassed and tried to ride out of the danger zone.

I was desaddled via fire arrow and then met my end when I mistimed my jump to avoid his charged big axe/hammer swing.

Got better at it taking them on later when I developed evasive timing/and acquired the thunder god attack.

However I also avoided them until the end when I wanted to upgrade my armor before Ganon and needed their parts.

Once you get significant armor and weapons, even the gold and silver ones are fairly easy if you’re just patient.

I was just walking through the tundra minding my own business looking for shrines and shite in the snow. That's when I came upon this oddly empty land. No trees, no enemies, no nothing. Just a giant flat patch of snow. In the distance I can see the orange glow of an undiscovered shrine, in front of it, a black blob. Naturally I head toward the alluring orange glow only to realize that black blob was indeed a Lynel. Nintendo saw fit to have this entire open area protected by a single Lynel, standing not 50 feet away from the shrine. Could have very easily just booked it for t he shrine and used the cutscene cheese, but I ain't no bitch.

Took me 2 hours to kill it. frick that. Not even remotely worth it.

I’d easily put the moment in Dragon Age Inquisition when after 40+ hours in the Hinterlands we lost a bigass battle and I walked through the snow for 30 seconds to realize I had just beaten the fricking prologue.

That is easily No. 1, because I realized there actually was a God.

I was trying to interpret what you were talking about. I realized it was BotW. Then I realized it was a monster I faced already too.

I faced one while collecting electric arrows to open the water beast/dungeon.

Which I am actually stuck on at the boss stage.

And that brings me to a question...am I doing these beasts in the wrong order? One swipe, I'm dead. I am playing with three hearts only...

Considering I had to google what a Lynel is, my answer is no.

Thinking about my favorite moments, this what I arrive at (MAJOR SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY):
Final Fantasy IX Ending (can easily include several other FF endings)

Last Boss Drakengard 3

Nier - Ending D. Tried to find a screen or gif of it, but Automata dominated all search engines

No. It's not.

Of all the amazing things I've heard about this game, I literally have never heard of a Lynel from any place other than here.

Mine was in the Colliseum and I got my arse kicked a couple times. Upgrading stasis and getting good at timing your dodges makes Lynels a breeze.

There's nothing wrong with doing water first. I think most people do, actually. Personally, I'd go and do some shrines to increase your heart containers by two or three.

For the boss fight, remember that you can use cryonis to shatter his ice projectiles and stasis to stop them in the air and send them back at him. Cheesing the fight with electric arrows is also totally viable.

I never thought of stasis, I have just been trying to break incoming ice or building walls.

It is hard to aim at the blocks at times, however.

It freezes him for like 2 seconds but it interrupts the high damage attacks nicely
