re: Hogwarts legacy early access members thread

Something I’m going to prioritize and something I think was really smart by the devs was including the white smoke disappearing spell that’s prominent in the movies into the game as an alternate and more powerful dodge. I think most fans assumed this was a kind of apparition but it doesn’t appear that’s the case. Apparition seemed entirely different, especially in the other movies.

It did seem a bit silly to be dodging and rolling around as a wizard so not including apparition there had to be a “cooler way to dodge”. In game, I think it’s called Swift. I wonder if that’s something they took liberty with or if they asked Rowling the difference between the white smokey apparition that the Order use and the other kind that’s more traditional that’s in Fantastic Beasts. I do wonder if an advanced skill in a sequel in dueling would be them including apparition. It features prominently in the duels in Fantastic Beasts

I def need to adjust my sensitivity. Camera movement is hella slow for me


But it’s damn fun so far. The combat is fantastic. Only thing I can complain about is sometimes the character models while in scene seem off. I suppose it was because a lot of the game was developed during covid and they had restrictions. Other than that, the story is solid. Love the mystery. Combat is *chefs kiss.

PS5 gets a special potion and shop that won’t be available for others until like a year later

I’m only about an hour and a half in. Just now finished the first Charms and DADA lessons. I’m calling it for the night.

Positives:

- love the combat and spells
- story has me intrigued so far
- Hogwarts is great-so much to do

Negatives:

- outside of the main cinematics, the character models and the voice acting seems off while they’re talking sometimes for some reason. I think it’s because they did a large portion of that virtually because of Covid. Also could be because Avalanche just isn’t used to that side of things yet.

- small gripe that some people won’t care about but I wish we didn’t have to name the character and that they had their own name. Takes me out of the story and the world when no one calls us by a name other than “new student.” Some people won’t give a shite about that though. Still, it doesn’t give me the full immersion.

Played the first 2 hours before work. Its great so far.

There’s no pre release download for PC, but DE owners can download, install, and play the game at 1pm ET today.
