I get sidetracked pretty easy on this game since the combat is so fun. It’s hard to pass by a mongol stronghold without engaging.
Same, I'm so OCD about unfogging the map and clearing everything constantly. I need to kill 2 more leaders for the final stance and 1 more inari shrine for the final charm slot. i am kinda worried about progression in Acts 2 and 3. Seems like I'm gonna have almost everything unlocked by the time I finish. Maybe that's by design. I'd imagine Act 1 is the largest act
what armor are you rocking? I'm still wearing the Traveler armor, I don't think I've ever taken it off

Still rocking the traveler’s outfit as well. I don’t even think I’ve done the first lady Masako mission yet, which I think is the first mission that gives you another armor set. That’s how sidetracked I’ve been getting.

it gives you good protection and health bonuses (especially when upgraded), but I still like the exploration perks on traveler
do the first quests for Masako, Ishikawa, Yuna, and Ryuzo, then go see the musician at hiysoshi springs. Gives you a mythic quest that unlocks the Longbow (lets you snipe mfs)

I'm curious about acts 2 and 3 myself because there's so much I'm unlocking in this first act. My guess is that, as you travel north, the story becomes more of the focus and the Mongols have stronger fortifications. But I'm also waiting for some kind of twist with the protagonist and one of the main supporting characters or something like that.

I switch between the traveler armor when I'm running around and the samurai armor when I'm about to fight. I'm still pretty early in act one but I've also almost unlocked all the stances and charm slots. If you observe the enemy Mongol leaders and then kill them you get double points towards unlocking your stances

Also, while the game isn't hard per say, I'm definitely hitting a few walls. I need to cut down my exploration and unlock more items. Getting into fights with multiple spear wielders is usually one of the only things that can kill me.

once you get the wind stance, you can abuse them
the perfect dodge and speary parry techniques help a lot as well

fricking archers are the bane of my existence on hard mode. Had to invest in the arrow parry skill asap. Brutes were a pain at first until I realized their opening was after their third consecutive attack. I haven't invested a point into the dodge ability that lets you attack as you dodge, that would probably help a lot too.

kunai, or charge them and do the sprint + O bash. I usually focus them first

yep, circle square, circle square, circle square, then wail on them

I do try to focus them first but the little bastards can stand really far away and not be noticeable until they've hit me with an arrow
. Now I turn my volume up and listen for their shout and can parry the arrows now so they're not nearly as big of a threat.

Game is sold out everywhere around me, looks like I’m going digital.

There's an option under accessibility for "Projectile Indicator" that will put an icon above archer's heads.

This is real nit picky (I guess), but I don’t like the horse. Feels like it’s always either going too slow or too fast. Maybe I haven’t figured out something about it.
Combat and the art style/visuals are clearly the best parts of the game so far.
Overall: pretty good so far. I’m probably 5-6 hours in max.

Act II and Act III combined are the size of act 1. I’ve 100%ed the first island and done some stuff on the second island. Enemies are slightly different in act 2 with some more enemy variety.

Just finished act 1 last night. This game is a whole mess of fun!

The Heavenly Strike duel was fricking awesome.

Yeah this game does a fantastic job at creating an atmosphere...the gameplay just doesn't quite match it. Fun game though. Would probably go with an 8/10 right now.

Took me a solid hour last night to beat him. I was getting absolutely slaughtered with my usual technique of dodge then slash. Tried dodge dodge slash and it didn’t work. After about forty minutes, I started to block and parry. That made a huge difference in this fight.
