I loved NV and 3. Vegas is the better story and the decisions you make really effect the game.

I played 3 and really early on did the Chinese DLC and got a badass sword and cloaking suit. It made the rest of the game pretty easy.

They need to release the originals from back in the late 90s.

They have? They are all on Steam. You can run them on a potato.

To answer OP, New Vegas is the best of the moderns. Get all of the DLC. Best I've played since Shivering Isles.

I meant release them on the PS Store and XBL for the peasants.

The only Fallout game I ever played was Fallout 4. Complete the entire story and put countless more hours into other quests/DLC. One of my favorite games ever

New Vegas for sure. I enjoyed 3 more than 4.

I got sucked back into 4 last night. Found the Marine Wetsuit in Far Harbor and now I'm on a mission to find all bobbleheads.

I got ya. But still, it's not like someone needs to really be a member of the master race to play titles that old. I assume everyone on this board in fact owns a computer.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
OS: Windows
Processor: Pentium 90Mhz or faster
Memory: 16 MB
Graphics: SVGA
DirectX®: Any DirectX
Hard Drive: 565 MB
Sound: DirectSound or SoundBlaster Compatible

And again, you could almost run FO2 on a literal potato

I think people who weren't into early PC gaming vastly underestimate the spec bloat that games have undergone. I remember having to upgrade my RAM from 16MB to 32MB to run AoE2 because of the number of sprites on screen at once. Now? Every half assed remotely decent looking game is asking for a GTX 1080 because they didn't spend even fifteen minutes optimizing it.

PSA: If you own a computer, practically any computer, there is an entire universe of old games available on Steam for dirt cheap that you can run at full quality on your potato. And even if you're utterly incompetent, Steam will handle the download and installation for you, download and install updates, etc, etc. It's basically buy and play.

Oh its crazy. My grandfather passed away last month and I was going through some of his computer stuff. He had what must have been 50 sticks of like 2MB RAM. Took me back to when we built when I was a kid. Miss those days.

I'd have to say it "depends".

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are both worth having, and both pretty inexpensive to get all the expansions. Get both instead of just 4, IMHO.

My favorite expansions are Mothership Zeta for 3 and either Old World Blues or Dead Money in New Vegas.

If you have a decent PC, get them for that. Honest. Modding on the PC for these games puts them leaps and bounds above console versions. If you want modding and console, Fallout 4 is your only option.

Fallout 3 and NV can only be played on PS3 right? For someone who only has a PS4.

Seems that way:

LINK

Looks like Bethesda ran into issues with backwards compatibility, and would have to retool the program a lot.

I hardly remember 3 or NV
I like fallout 4 a lot.

But I think the mechanics in the these game suck arse. Shooting sucks. Jumping sucks. Vats is stupid. Lot of other small dumb shite.

Still enjoy the games but wish they would fix somebody or those issues.

I restarted 4 with all DLC. Like do Nuca cola haven’t touched far harbor.

Didn’t know BV was backpat might get into that after 4

The mechanics and graphics in 4 were better but otherwise I think it wasn't nearly as good as 3 or nv. The story was weakkk

New Vegas is the best, but the best individual quest is in Fallout 3:
