The ending still sucks even after the ‘fix’

This is what’s been catching me a bit off guard lately. DA:I was thrashed when it came out. DA:V may very well be worse, but the gap between DA:I and DA:V could still be smaller than the gap between DA:O and DA:2 or DA:2 and DA:I. Or it could be bigger. Jury is still out. But it surprises me that people are pretending as though DA:2 and DA:I weren’t considered massive disappointments after DA:O.

Massive disappointment? No, but most it wasn't looked upon as favorably as DA:O. Still isn't even though it's not a "bad" game by any means.

People shite on 2 for having a short campaign with copy and paste locations. People shite on I for… damned near everything.

Have they both been raised in esteem as the years have passed? Sure. But that doesn’t change the fact that DA fans were big fricking mad when they were released.

Meh, it’s not good, but it’s fine.

I would argue that the actual weakest point of ME3 is taking back Earth. That mission series could have been so much better, and likely would have been had they not run out of time.

Thank you for informing me about something I’ve never heard of before and now I will never, ever listen to.

Their Reddit seems full of a bunch of losers as well

People turning the difficulty to easy because they don't like the combat is all I need to skip this one. Spongy bosses when the combat sucks doesn't work for me.

It's really interesting how polarizing the impressions have been about this game.

From the review video I’ve watched the 3 things that stood out to me as awful are:

1. Repetitiveness resulting in having to turn down the difficulty to make things go faster.

2. The complete lack of tension or conflict between teammates and throughout the side quests. Everything, per the reviewer, was just cheesily “nice”. No anger. Everyone is just nice all the time. You can even be the angry renegade character.

3. And this is the most egregious - The modern progressive script writing of everyone constantly stating their emotions and thought processes out loud. I call this Disney marvelization. There is no inference with the story or motivations. It’s the way modern characters are written for idiots where they constantly speak to share their feelings at all times.

Based on the review I saw, I’m out.

I think that is what fuels the EA paid reviewers nonsense. Some folks have no issue with the combat and love the game while others despise it. Love it or hate it. Gives the perception that someone might have been paid, not that I believe it. I don't think Mort would risk his youtube channel like that.

Skillup is fairly liberal so any perceived wokeness wouldn't bother him in the least. He straight up said NOTHING in the game was fun. Now that isn't entirely true because he said the last two hours were great but they didn't make up for the first 48.

Mortismal Gaming's review surprised me somewhat. I think last year he played the first 3 games and he had no problem with them dumbing down the rpg elements. In fact his favorite was Inquisition. But I would think spongy bosses and spamming the same attacks would bore him. I am surprised by how much he loved the game.

This is what I meant by polarizing. I know people got their feelings hurt by Kinda Funny campaigning for Harris, but their game reviews are always pretty solid. They absolutely ripped Kill the Justice League a new one. They do put an emphasis on the positives of a game and not hammer on the negative, but they will call it out of they feel it's a crap game. And at the same time, I don't doubt these people that are slamming the game are being genuine with their opinions

SkillUp said it was shite and actually SHOWED a ton of examples of the game being shite. That's all I need to see

Anyone who thinks Bioware is still a good dev is kidding themselves. The guys that made Mass Effect 1-3 and DA:O aren't walking through that door. The reviews would be much more honest if this had another dev's name on it

SkillUp showed some dialogue and gameplay/puzzle mechanics that are just objectively bad. If someone thinks they're passable or good, they're just ignorant to good design or deluded by dev nostalgia

I can't put into words how bad the art design is. It's crazy how many games have gone this route. It looks like Shrek characters

If it is fun, I don't care about the art style but..... at least what I have seen so far, it isn't in my fun wheelhouse.

MrMattyPlays, who gave a glowing preview, has given a scathing review after getting the full game

He is a pretty big dude in the review circles

most of his criticisms line up with what Skill Up said
