There will also be rounds of beta testing you can now opt in to...probably need a current sub to get accepted though

Finally a reason to return to WoW. I’m hopeful this turns out to be good.

The problem with these classic servers is what happens when the playerbase burns through all the content? It may take a little over a year but eventually all the vanilla content is going to get released, and it's just gonna be doing the same stuff over and over again. Players will get bored and quite /go back to their live server.

That said, I really want a Burning Crusade server rather than a Vanilla server. That's such a niche though. Plenty of private servers already offer the vanilla and WoTLK experiences, but you have to search hard to find a decent BC server.

Ive never played WoW before.

Would this be a good place to start, and get the 'original' experience?

You can play it for free up to a certain level, I think 30. The base game doesn't cost anything.

Assuming they are truly making the effort to make it look and feel like classic...which from what I’ve seen and heard they are...yes. They will be releasing content on a schedule like they did back in 2004-06 and you’ll get to experience amazing mmo moments like the opening of the gates of AQ...it’s the perfect mmo in my opinion.

I believe you need a WoW subscription...but with the sub you get access to both classic and retail...haven’t heard about it being free until a certain level

Nice... gives me time to try out the current expansion. Hopefully this board will have a good turn out once the game launches.

Its hard to answer because the age of the game but, some my greatest memories gaming are from this time. Game was much more socially active and you actually had a community(good or bad).

Understand what a free account can do.

Free accounts can be leveled up to Level 20 (out of a possible 120 levels), and can continue to play after hitting the cap (without accruing additional XP). Free accounts are also limited to 10 Gold. Free accounts also have limits on in-game communication, and cannot join Guilds.

If you have a subscription that's lapsed, your account will turn into a Starter account with all the same restrictions except that your character will have the ability to join the same Guild as any of your other characters. You won't have access to any of your characters above Level 20, but you can create new characters.

Starter accounts are a great way to play for as long as you want to decide if World of Warcraft is for you.

sic is right. It's free up to level 20. They don't really openly advertise it, it's more something you find out after you start because it lets you know in-game when your sub runs out.

I've never played it either. Pandas, SMH. WOW is the 1 MMO that never interested me for 5 seconds or less.
