I ordered one directly from sandal for myself but I also bought one of those copies for my sisters son who is 14. Want to try to get him into actually real video games instead of live service slop

Avoiding the spoiler thread for obvious reasons, but COE33 just dropped to a Steam all time low of $40 with a discount of 20%.

That’s insane. These dudes and their new upstart publisher are marketing geniuses. I feel like they did everything the right way the entire step of the process of bringing this game to life. Last update they gave was 5 million sales, which is just freaking mind blowing for a turn based jrpg that was also on gamepass not named persona.

I mean this games sales blew metaphor refantazio out of the water and that game was also a 10/10 banger published by Atlus

No Persona has sold as much as Clair Obscur.

They repackage presonas a lot so lifetime sales of Persona 4 and 5 are high. But they count the royal and golden versions. These came out years later.

Only Persona 5 Royal has actually. It has sold roughly 7.25 million copies with the combined sales of Royal and original persona 5 at around 10 million units. Atlus actually just updated these sales numbers in September 2025 so we know they’re very up to date.

I was just making the point how rare it is for jrpgs to reach this level of air in terms of sales for any of them and persona has become the sort of king in the genre as much as I love FF I’d argue it stopped being a JRPG around 12

Best game this year, hands down

Only real competition is Silksong

It’s a shame silksong is competing with this game. I felt it was 100% worth the hype and an amazing game. IMO though EX 33 is simply on another level that very few games are able to reach

Silksong is amazing.

But yeah, Expedition 33 was an absolute event that captivated the gaming world

E33 has sold better on release than any Persona ever. That includes even the Persona 5 Royale version.
The 7.25 number you are getting includes the Persona 5 Royale and Persona 5 Royale remaster. Released in 2019 and 2022! Atlus milks their games.

No Persona game has sold as much as E33 without re-releases. Or as much in half a year.

5 million over half a year is wildly more impressive than 10 million over 9 years and 3 game releases.

I am just showing more context so that the success of E33 is highlighted more. Atlus wishes it had that launch year.

So... I think that was the best prologue I've ever played through...

Any spoiler free beginners tips? I have a really awful habit looking up “basic things, just so I don’t miss anything important” and then end up min-maxing the game to within an inch of its life. I’m trying to play this one as clean as possible, hopefully without actually missing anything important

Eta: And I mean more advanced beginner’s tips, if that makes sense. I already plan to parry the game to death, etc. Thing’s that aren’t otherwise obvious or intuitive.

The best stat in the game is speed. Since you are just starting, your weapons will change a lot as you progress so just place stat points how you see fit and you can use recoat items to redo your stats once you find the weapons you want to use in the end game.

Just in general explore every dungeon thoroughly, there are a lot of hidden passageways you could easily miss if you just follow the obvious linear path.

Lumina points are a very big part of how you build your squad, so you may want to be a little conservative with them until you have unlocked all playable characters to determine who you would like to invest your lumina points into.

Use early mobs to work on parry and jump timing

Parry is OP, but hard to perfect

dammit

Redhead and Lune are my gangstas

Pay attention to the mechanics of each person's attacks and what those attacks do. Several build up to a big thing, but said "thing" varies

I just sat on the mime and then Maella, even after I beat her, until I could abuse her

First tip is to not look anything up. You’ll get spoiled and hate life. Everything you need to become an OP god is available to you at any time, so just build and progress how you want. Plenty of time to respec and shite later

Top 10 all timer for me. Enjoy

Anything in particular to look out for, or are we talking about just exhausting side paths?
