Has the "family sharing" feature been talked about much on here?

It's a pretty fricking awesome feature that the XBone is implementing and Microsoft hasn't said much about it, probably because they haven't worked out all the stipulations for it just yet.

From the same article

quote:

In an email to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft flatly denied that the Kinect would do anything of the sort, whether via third-party partners or otherwise. "Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE do not use any information captured by Kinect for advertising targeting purposes," representatives wrote. Honestly, some of us at Engadget still think targeted advertising is kind of neat, but we know how seriously you take this stuff.

Imagine how advertisers would react to a company that had data on how customers responded to certain ads...

Did they laugh? Cry? At what specific points during the ad did they laugh or cry? Did they joke about the ad with their friends? Did their friends like the ad? Did they search for information about the product directly after the ad? Did the ad excite them? Did they even watch the ad, or were they checking their phone or talking to a friend? Are they searching for similar ads on Youtube? What information are they posting about the ad? Did they tweet about it? Did they message a friend about it?

But xbox live, which continues to partner with the biggest sports, tv, and movie companies is 10000000 times better. To even compare Xbox live to Sony network is laughable, and your showing your fan boy stripes. Oh yeah, Sony Network was down again, the other day. But, but it's free. Exactly.

so XBL has never went down?

btw PSN+ is required for PS4

Which was from 2010, when the original Kinect was first introduced. The original Kinect camera and older Live infrastructure weren't advanced enough to obtain such data.

Halo, Sunset Overdrive and Titanfall. But with Titanfall going to PC, I may end up buying that on PC.

Nice. Sunset Overdrive will be a big breath of fresh air I think. Insomniac has always done right by me (even if they are getting away from their roots).

I can't recall a time of it ever going down for more than a couple of hours and I don't even have specific examples for that. I have seen COD servers getting stressed during release days or Christmas. That's a different issue that should be remedied with the Xbox One server support.

this is just mindblowing.
i mean of all the possible reasons one may prefer one console over another.

....they really think Microsoft and the US Government worked together to put a Kinect in everyones living room to spy on them.

Sweet Baby Jesus. They really have no idea how very small and meaningless their lives will turn out to be in the grand scheme of things.

I doubt their own Mom's would care enough to spy on them.

I like targetted advertising fwiw. Custom tailored ads based on a month of my reaction patterns would be legit.

Conspiracy? Really?

When Microsoft's former COO explicitly states the following, the concept is anything but a conspiracy.

.."And over time that will help us be more targeted about what content choices we present, what advertising we present, how we get better feedback. And data about how many people are in a room when an advertisement is shown, how many people are in a room when a game is being played, how are those people engaged with the game? How are they engaged with a sporting event? Are they standing up? Are they excited? Are they wearing Seahawks jerseys?"

And then to act like it's not easier to hack into someones laptop camera than it would be to hack into the Xbox network.

Nevermind the fact that you can flat out disable the device if you choose to. Let's ignore that handy little feature Xbox included.

And even that can be disabled because legally they have to give you the option to do so. Same with Kinect

Are you actually under the impression that we think Microsoft employees and government agents are going to be watching us on cameras in real time 24/7? Or that the government had anything to do with Microsoft's decision to include a Kinect with the One?
