I watched some gameplay last night. Looks to be very cinematic. Still don’t care for the Hit point system like was in the last assassin’s creed. Just visually is very distracting. No one is sitting there adding up 4009 points of damage plus 1734 points of damage for each enemy. Is there a way to turn that off?

Do they tie the mythological elements of the setting to the first civilization?

the Assyrians would've raped and pillaged their way to glory right through Sparta

The Spartans were probably ethnically closer to the Assyrians than they were to other Greeks. If I remember my history, the Spartans were part of a wave of migrations from Asia, hence why they enslaved the helots.

Started playing last night. On normal, using Alexis on exploration mode. Pretty fun so far. So many positive changes from Origins which is the first AC game I got into since the original.

I love this game, but the AC franchise is evolving into something else like Prince of Persia evolved into the AC franchise.

20 hours in and 1/3 of the way through, this is the best AC game to date and if you are a completionist it will take you over 100 hours . tip of the hat to a game that lasts less than 10 hours.

I have more work to do in AC than I do at my actual job.

There's a "?" every five feet. I just got to Athens but have probably put in 15 hours already.

The only thing that's still weird to me is the faction influence on the various islands. I get that the islands are controlled by Sparta/Athens and the things you do (ie loot forts, kill leadership, etc) weaken their hold on the island. Just that there's no real context for the main character to be randomly murdering military officers and looting camps. Once you get the faction's influence all the way down, you can choose to represent the faction that you just screwed over in the battle and reset their influence back to 100% again.
