Gonna be a Christmas game for me. I only have room for one marriage straining game this fall.

Loved Origins but this looks the exact same.

Better story, better combat, bigger world, more varied world, more varied content in that bigger world, RPg elements added, extensive naval gameplay, and more

I think you can try it on the new Google Stream service.

I never played Origins, is it worth trying? I played some of the older games but the AI always seemed bad so I gave up on them.

Are these stand alone games? I've never played them before.

Yeah, you can play it standalone. There's some sci fi aspects that even the writers don't understand and make no sense and that's what inter-connects the games, but the main stories themselves are all single games.

Basically. They all have the same basic setup in that you're a part of an ancient group known as Assassins and and the big bads in the game are always a part of a rival group called Templars, but the setting, timeline and characters are always vastly different.

I am curious to what classic Greek monsters you will face. I know Medusa is in the previews

Definitely. I took a gamble and preordered Origins because I love the setting of Ancient Egypt and it definitely paid off.

This is the big difference with Odyssey. Origins had some elements of it, but this one is leading more towards a Bioware style game with dialogue choices. At least that's what I've been reading about it.

And to quote Alex Navarro from Giant Bomb, the best thing he's said ever, it still suffers from the Ubisoft "map barf". So much stuff to do, it's overwhelming.

I loved Origins, but it's time they split this new AC series off into its own thing. I'm watching footage of a dude sneaking around and diving off high cliffs in bronze armor, and it's clear to me that this game wants so hard NOT to be an AC game.
