Anyone on the Sea of Thieves hype train?

All the expansions and extra content they've added over the past year has really turned this into a fun game. Definitely a game to play with friends. Anyone else catch the addiction to robbing people blind?

What all have they added? Got a link or something? I kept up with it for a while but the game got so tedious I finally gave it up.

What all have they added?
There's now a random chance that the Kraken will attack.
Raids that are marked by huge skull clouds in the sky that are basically waves of different kinds of skeletons until you kill the captain and gain the key to enter the room with the loot.
They added more islands, expanded servers to 4 ships instead of 2, added a 3 man Brig to go with the 2 man sloop and the 4 man galleon.
There's now a section of the sea in the southeast that has multiple active volcanoes that erupt, damage your ship, boil the water so it hurts to swim in it, and generally make the state of the sea a terrible time, but for the promise of better loot.
Ghost ships were also added. There are some that visibly roam the sea and others will surface right next to your ship as you're traveling and engage you. Honestly they've put in a hell of a lot of work since launch.
They're also about to add a PvP feature called The Arena. There hasn't been a lot released about it yet, but it looks to be structured PvP of some kind.
Overall the foundation for this game is super solid with PLENTY of room for expansion and new content. I could see this game taking off bigly if Rare plays it right.

quote:Summit started streaming it and kinda showed everyone how fun it is to actually be a pirate instead of just PvEing all the time. He'll hide on another ship for an hour and watch them collect a ton of loot then just jack it. It's hilarious. It kinda taught people how to have the most fun with the game. He's getting Fortnite level of viewers playing SoT now.

He used to be entertaining, then he got popular and became a self absorbed jackass.

Yep.
Maybe one day we'll stop whining about it.

Yeah I watched him when he played CS:GO, but he's not really my cup of tea anymore. Even so SoT owes a lot of the credit for their recent upswing to Summit. If I remember right it's also half off right now.

I've been playing since beta. The Shrouded Spoils patch tied in all the elements they've released over the last year and now it finally feels like a complete game. Tons of potential still and Rare does a great job.
PVP is still the best thing in the game IMO, I hope the new arena doesn't kill that element in the adventure world. Right now they are working on rebalancing combat in preparation for arena combat. There's some theories floating around that a new ship type will be released for 6 man crews.

Maybe one day we’ll stop supporting developers who put out shite products and take a year to make them playable, and instead support developers who put out quality from the get-go. Sigh.

I get on every now and again. It's fun when playing with others

they've made some great games....for the N64 . What good games have they released since 2000?
the team from their glory days is long, long gone. may as well have a different name for the company

I have a hard time with different weapons being cosmetic only. There is a huge draw for me for finding better gear.
I just hit 650 in destiny 2 and as soon as I realized I can’t get any better, it dropped down my play list.

I had that happen in Destiny 1.

They made almost exclusively handheld games only until the 360 came out after the release of Star Fox Adventures for the GameCube in 2002. After that it was remakes/sequels of 64 games until Sea of Thieves. Not exactly a track record of putting out unfinished products.
People also forget that a lot of time the developers WANT to finish the game before releasing it. 9 times out of 10 they're forced to release because of due dates set by the publisher. That's why developers who also produce their own games (Nintendo) often times have a better track record.
