Well I thought I would still have a chance to catch a tuna before 5 AM but they make them uncatchable at midnight sharp tonight. I know this because when I was on my 25th piece of bait, I reeled in a Mahi Mahi. Looked at the Criterpedia and their availability starts in May.

Still got the marlin though.

I think I caught exactly one tuna ever... But thankfully I don't have to wait to max out critterpedia... Time to go catch a new fish I guess

I think of all the fish species available in April we only didn’t catch the golden trout. Although they are still around this month, so have some time yet.

I wonder if scorpions are the same as tarantulas as far as catching them? My mystery islands lately have been strictly giant water bugs. I did get the construction tools yesterday. Messed up a few cliffs and rivers and laid on crazy path. I'm going to have to start moving a bunch of buildings. I also got my basement so I have like 1,600 storage slots. I've been saving up bugs and fish for Flick and CJ.

They are. I cleared a mystery island and I caught four this morning in case Flick was in town.

I've done Nook's travel pass like 30 times and still have yet to go to tarantula island.

I did it over 50 before I got my first one.

You think catching tarantulas is easy, and then you end up on an island where there's four at a time and you can't catch more than three without getting knocked out.

Same. I’ve only been playing about a week or so. I’ve done travel pass about 15-20 times. Never had a tarantula island. I was bummed out cause I thought last night was finally gonna be the night.

Only tarantula I ever snagged was randomly roaming around my island one night (ironically it was after I returned from a hopeful tarantula island visit )

As far as big sport fish, I’ve caught 100% of mine on random travel pass islands (and never used any bait):
3 marlin
4 oarfish
1 tuna
2 golden trout (both last night from the same island)
~6 barreleye

I’ve never caught any of these from my island.

This was almost my exact same experience too. You get pretty bold around them nasty fricks after a while.

The key is to partition the island with holes. Tarantulas can't jump the gaps so you can net them easy even if they're POed.

But I guess us northerners won't be seeing them again for a while. Excited to get my butt kicked by a few scorpions soon

How was the May Day Maze island supposed to work?

Only one orange and I couldn’t advance at all.

You have to eat the orange to dig up the tree. Then use the rest of the fruit to destroy rocks, pick up materials, build an axe and make it to the other side. There's a small reward when you reach the other end. Nothing major.

There isn't enough fruit to collect all of the tickets so you have to pick which one you want.

I haven't had a chance to take that May Day trip yet. Does it work like normal islands in that you can take things home with you? I don't have oranges on my island. I was wondering if it would make more sense for me to just take that orange home instead of completing the maze.

Someone here can hook you up with oranges don't worry about that. I'll have to check if I have any on my trees and I give you some

I think all of my orange trees have fully bloomed as of this morning... I can certainly give you some of mine so you can do the maze.

I posted my friend code in here already if you haven't added me yet

It’s raining on our island and I just caught a Coelacanth off of our pier.

Gonna go open a bottle of wine to celebrate this occasion.

May Day Tour was bullshite. Bad game design for a one-time event to not know what the potential top prize is.

(Yes, I finished one fruit short. Yes it pissed me off. No I don't care how irrational I sound.)

I really enjoy this game but the two events so far (Bunny Day and now this) have been complete garbage.

Edit: bad feelings pushed away when I scored a bamboo island on my first Nook Miles ticket tonight. Loading up on scorpions now!

So this game is very addicting. I will have to add some of you baws on here. I didn't know what to call my island, and I thought Paradise was too cliche, so it's called Paradis, LA

Also, was there always a derpy little music sequence whenever you talked to characters before the update? I usually almost lose it whenever I talk to Orville now. I don't know how I never noticed this before.

This game was well done. I'm objectively hard to impress, and this game keeps me playing.

I chose Laputa, which is the name from the island in Guliver’s Travels and Castle in the Sky but also means “Dirty Whore” in Spanish. Pretty solid one.
