I don't give a flying frick about reselling or rebuying used games.

I hate GameStop even though I did preorder my PS4 BF4 bundle through them but that's just because it's really close and everywhere is the same price.

Only thing I care about for physical disc is rentals.

GameFly and Red Box have massive customer bases, GF has over a million subscribers now and Red Box is as popular as ever.

I'm sorry but 70% of games are not worth paying $60 for. Especially single player only games. I couldn't even imagine paying $60 for Dishonored, beating it in like 7 hours, and then boom collect dust, can't even eBay and get a chunk of my money back.

That's the shite that needs to be fixed if going all digital, games better start actually being worth the money. Not a 7-8 hour single player story with either no multiplayer or some shitty half assed multiplayer you'll play for an hour or two and be done.

I'm 99.9% PS4. Still a chance for Xbox One though.

even with games that are on steam you can still get the physical copy.

Why would you pay more for the same game though. This is from Origin for a sale they have going on today.

What if you could rent games digitally instead of waiting on them in the mail?

so your own personal grudge vs them means they are bad for everyone else who can benefit from the service they provide.

How is anyone benefitting from them obviously ripping them off?

Which is something that I'm pretty sure that Xbox has come out and said they're looking into.

Depends on the pricing model and how many you could rent at one time, and if there was a time limit.

Obviously with Gamefly you can rent up to 4 games out at one time and return whenever the hell you want.

Gamefly also gives you $5 off coupons every 6 months you are with them and a 10% off coupon with no use limit.

you can do that with movies on ps3 but it only last about 2 days and you get to watch it once or twice. I did it about 3 times and said f that

went back to other ways of obtaining them and putting them on a hard drive

No. They haven't said they are actually. They said they have no plans for rentals at this moment. No one knows what that means.

I wouldn't be shocked for it to mean them saying frick Redbox and Gamefly we have our own model or maybe they will allow the current Redbox app and a new Gamefly app to rent the games to you digitally. I have little doubt it happens one way or the other at some point.

I've heard a rumor that Gamefly is currently developing a streaming app for their rental service for this next generation.

Netflix for games basically.

How true it is, no telling, but wouldn't surprise me one bit if they want to push forward.

That's chicken scratch in the grand scheme but I do agree they would need to give you ample time to play the rentals if they do it.

couldn't agree more. Dead Island 2 was Dead Island 1.5. I got maybe 6 hours of play out of it and it wasn't no where near worth $60

I don't know how you buy/rent movies on PSN. I'd assume it's similar tho.

But on Xbox Movies, a lot of the titles I can just rent and stream. A quarter of the price of purchasing it.

And again, all from my couch. No dropping off discs. Picking up discs.

Just instant.

No reason why games can't be the same way.
They already have demos that don't allow you to play after a certain period of time.

Recent example: State of Decay

that would be fricking amazing. you can't deny that.

it will happen. again, not a question of if, but when?

but who knows if it'll be a 3rd party or Microsoft/Playstation? I would say, when the ability to do so is here, Microsoft/Playstation will just buy out the middleman.

who?

people without internet? too fricking bad. it's 2013, deal with it.

They already let you play PC games unlimited with an app as long as you are a customer.

Right, they just have an awful selection.

Gonna have to have new titles and near immediate release like they do now with the physical copies if they want to succeed if they are developing an app for next gen streaming.

Even 4G is good enough to stream and download on. Hell, it's faster than a lot of the residential ISP connections in the USA.

thats how i felt about homefront but at least if you trade it in and cane recoup some of the cost esp if its in the first month or two and put it towards a new game.

But who knows how that will work in an all digital system. Say you spend 60 bucks on a game you digital download and it sucks and you beat it in no time, well are you now just stuck with it and can't get back any of the cost.
