How many times will the main character die to a boss before moving on to the next?

I posted this in the movie thread

The story in the the actual game is vague, strange, and at times incomprehensible.

Probably impossible to translate to a 3 hr movie.

I get the feeling we will end up with a generic fantasy world movie with a few elements from the game, maybe a big golden Erdtree and a few familiar character names.

They clearly aren’t going to take every storyline for every character and put it into one movie. The world will be the backdrop for a contained story, or it’ll be a series of movies. You can make an entire movie out of one NPC questline if you wanted to

I love Alex garland so I know, if this actually ever gets made, it won’t be as slapstick, but this made me chuckle

Love most of his work but Men and Civil War....while not total whiffs for me ... were not exactly hits either. But they had their moments. Devs didnt stick the landing for me ether but was a fun ride. That being said this has the potential to be something really good.

Men was his closest thing to a miss but it was still brilliantly made in terms of production. Garland is a true visionary and even when something doesn't quite hit the mark, you can see the vision and appreciate his efforts

Civil War was probably his worst script but man it was well made.

Devs was a hit for me. Absolutely loved it

Men was a rare miss.

I just don’t see what part of the story you can adapt to appeal to a broad audience. Maybe Shadow of the Erdtree but that just leads to the strange dynamics of that final boss fight.

I’m partial to Shadow because I want to see the Divine Beast Dancing Lion fight with the original score.

I think the last 10 or so min turned a lot of people off to that movie.

Seems like any souls game would fit better as a tv series. Then again re:zero already exists.

Someone hasn't heard of A24 before. It's perfect for them.

I felt lied to with Civil War. It wasnt bad but it wasn’t great. Guess it’s my fault for having some expectation.

Article has Martin being a producer and mentions it being based off a story he wrote. From the interviews I’ve seen Martin talking about it, he just wrote a basic outline about radagon/marina and the family. Sometimes it sounded like he didn’t even know what the project really was.

All that to say this doesn’t excite me that much that we get something close to the game if Miyazaki isn’t involved and Martin is. I didn’t play it because Martin had a hand in the development

How does one embody, in a movie, a controller smashing rage quit?

I just want to see Radahns big arse riding on his little horse and would be cool to see Placidusax make an appearance.
