Man you are out of your mind.

Galatoires is good and many enjoy the hell out of spending 4 hours on a Friday drinking and eating there. It doesn't make it on a top ten list for a lot of people I know and the Fitzmorris and other reviewer types seem to agree.

Five Happiness use to be so much better now it’s like high class Chinese Fast food. No way should a table of twenty get their food in 15 mins.

Would love to see those top 10 lists

Some people just love going out of there way not to name a staple like Galatoire's or Commanders, only to favor the latest, newest, small plate, fusion cuisine backed by popular chef place.

Galatoire checks every box. I would not trust any person's taste who did not list it as a top 10 New Orleans restaurant.

Roll through this whole thread and name some of the places noted that fit this description.

To each his own. Some people think Antiones is great and still though Brennans was some fabulous place even after it had clearly went to crap for about five years.

are you equating Galatoire's to Antoine's and Brennan's?

And you're right, to each his own. You really need qualifiers when coming up with lists on restaurants. If you were picking restaurants to rep New Orleans in a worldwide restaurant tournament, you'd start with either Galatoire's or Commander's.

Wouldn't know about dining in. I always get take-out and eat at home since I live about a mile from the place.

I personally would rank them

1- Commanders
2- Brennans
3- Galatoires
4- Antoine’s

Galatoires was great 12-15 years ago, but since Katrina I feel they’ve gone downhill.

I’m not sure the last time you’ve been but Brennan’s with Slade Rushing is excellent again.

Oh I’m sure it is. I was referring to the those last five years before the big restructuring and change of ownership.

Oh, no denying that. You need to check it out now though if you haven’t.

I guess I see what you are saying now, but I was thinking you meant something more like Square Root or Bozwell's old place.

And how the hell would you list Blue Oak as something small plant fusion cuisine?

Might have to go back to my list and add Clancy’s. Went this week and it was outstanding as usual. That place is very solid.

I was generalizing, but majority of their menu is overpriced a la carte BBQ. And I like blue oak enough.

can you imagine someone listing that as a top restaurant in New Orleans ?

No BBQ restaurant in New Orleans is worthy of the Top 50 in the city, let alone the Top 6.

I ate at August and La Boca this weekend. August was trash. La Boca skirt steak was quite impressive.
