The Joint

Joint does a good job but I think most will say BOB has the best and easier to get to.

Great food and bar. Had a rough stretch about a 18 mos ago when the chef died unexpectedly. Back on its feet and hitting its stride again.

The joint is Goat. Blue oak is delicious as well.

I dont know, there is something about blue oak that is just comfortable, to the space, to the serving time, to the menu & specials.

Man I was with you all the way until you got to Shaya. I just don’t see what the fuss is about at that place. Don’t get me wrong, the Pita and the hummus are the best I’ve ever had, but the main courses, and desserts are not good.
The rest of your post is perfectly put.

Yup. I didn’t like Blue oak at all either. And we ordered tons of items. Didn’t care for any of it. To each their own though. They must be doing something right. A lot of people like it

Then you, in general, must not like BBQ.

I wouldn't call myself a hug lover of BBQ, but I like it and eat it regularly enough.

Care to name them?

I just meant food overall not just limiting to BBQ. If I'm eating out, New Orleans has so many choices of good food its not funny.

I'm not sure there's an outstanding BBQ place in the city. But I've liked my trips to the Joint and Central City (or whatever its called near down town) better than Blue Oak.

It looks like lots of people are mentioning the wings - so whenever I get to Blue Oak again I'll have to try those. I had the brisket plate my first trip, and others had the combo plates so we got to try several things across the menu. Like I said, it could have been an off day.

I agree - there are no truly outstanding BBQ places in New Orleans. There are way too many other places that are far superior to the best BBQ the city has to offer. Heck, the BBQ I've had at Barbosa's popups in BR is better than anything I've had in New Orleans.

Couldn’t disagree more. They are consistently great. Better than Commanders and commanders is consistently good.

But to each his own

Food there is pretty good but Galatoire's is all about the experience. There is NOTHING better in this city than a 5 hour lunch on a Friday at Galatoire's.

Seems a lot of responses are catering to the higher end places in the city. I'll go with these since I frequent them more that what many have posted and you can pick them apart.

Venezia
Five Happiness
Little Tokyo
Katie's
R & O
And last but definitely not least when down in "Da Parish" I have to hit Rocky & Carlo's, after all, "Ladies Invited".
