Green curry is the entree I will get 9 out of 10 times at a thai restaurant. I enjoyed the one at La Thai. Just spiced to perfection when I went last weekend.

This Wiki entry is unbelievable informative. Takes a while to go through each regional cuisine (and you don't really need to delve into the really specific stuff) but it's got lots of great info for anyone wanting to know about the food of Asia.

Eh. I've had it. Rather bland, IMO. Also La Thai does a terrible job with their jasmine rice. It's advertised as such but I'm not so sure they don't give you something else every once in a while.

I'm pretty harsh critic about Thai food having had it on both the East and West coasts where it's phenomenally better than in the South.

Yeah I ate at a Thai place in Hollywood that can't be matched by anything I've had here. Can't remember the name of the place to save my life right now.

ETA: I'm sure at some point someone like TA or glass will claim that XYZ Thai place in New Orleans is as good as any in the country.

I order it with brown rice instead of jasmine so I can't say much about the rice. The times I've had it, it hasn't been bland, but I have only had it there twice.

I can understand why you're a harsh critic, but I tend to not compare exotic foods made in New York restaurants to ones here in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. Same as I wouldn't compare Cajun restaurants in new orleans to one in Detroit

Love the green curry at La Thai.

Also, if you go on a Tuesday, Stoli drinks are $5 and all of the apps except the oysters are $5! And that's not a happy hour price. It's all evening.

Their mussels and fries appetizer is amazing. Slight curry taste to it.

I love going on a Tuesday and getting the mussels as my meal, a glass of 14 Hands cabernet. $11 + tax and tip.

Corrected above: Before it said I love going on a Friday for the deal, and should've said Tuesday.

That sounds great!

I'm looking for one to go to for my birthday and I get the feeling La Thai will have the best atmosphere but I still want the food to be good.

The food is definitely good and the atmosphere is awesome.

I love the crab three ways and also the seafood curry is great.

$24 for some frozen crawfish tails, poorly cooked shrimp and terribly done soft shell crab. that meal still pisses me off.

We'd always go to La Thai or Sukho Thai just due the proximity to our house, but honestly, I never found a good Thai joint in New Orleans.

I've never thought it was bad, but its definitely Americanized Thai food. I always found La Thai very sweet and Sukho Thai comparatively spicy. That being said, I still don't think its bad food, its not just "great" Thai.

I would agree with this and add Cafe Equator in there as well. Siamese does suck pretty bad though.
