Random question but this made me wonder has anyone ever tried Chinese Kitchen on Carrollton? Place has been around since the 70s and I never see anyone go in or out lol. Also had Five Happiness for lunch today and it’s always been my favorite because it’s classic Chinese American food.

They have the best hot and sour soup and egg rolls I have ever eaten.
My dad was friends with the owner and we ate there very often in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Great food but in a sketchy location.
Ate there one last time with my sister and bil in 2017. It was still good, but different without my Dad.

I really enjoyed Marjie's (Southeast Asian), however my favorite place is probably Mantra.

I am researching each and every one of these, so thank you all and keep them coming.
Google says that Red's is temporarily closed.

Five Happiness. Within a couple miles from my house in Mid-City, large menu, good food and prices. What's not to like.

They don’t devein their shrimp

So, that's a deal breaker for you???
Then you wouldn't like eating most shrimp dishes at my house----and you'd be missing out on some damn good cooking too.
Well, more for me then......

My favorite thing at Five Happiness is their shrimp with pecans… but they don’t devein the shrimp. They all have big black lines running down the backs. It’s gross. I have never understood why they can’t take the time to devein them, or just buy deveined shrimp to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I like Five Happiness, but little things like that, that are easily fixable, bother me.

As someone whose wife insists we devein all shrimp we cook with, it's a huge PITA. I don't blame them.

You know how you stop that? Let HER devein all the shrimp while you sip a cold beer on the sofa.

Plus it's cheap, you can bring in your own alcohol, etc. Location is their biggest downfall

I am too old to start dating again, thanks. Though so is she, so maybe this will work.

Vietnamese: Tan Dinh
Chinese: China Doll (rip China Blossom)
why: they have good food and have been around long enough to know they'll be consistent
