Put peanuts in pot. Fill with water. Add salt. Boil for 1.5 hours. Add more salt. Soak for 30 to 45 minutes

Maybe I am missing something but, boiled peanuts just are not an interesting food item I want to eat.

I'm not the best at cooking so I'll refrain however the peanut man is out at Hwy. 19 and Pride/Port Hudson road.

This is actually correct.

Those who ruin peanuts with crab boil an' stuff need to be thrashed.

I am not a huge fan of crab boil in them. I will sometimes put some cayenne and red pepper flakes in just to spice it up.

I've been eating boiled peanuts my whole life and nothing is better than a big pot cooking on the stove on a college football Saturday.

To each his own. I don't like caviar, raw fish, liver, or lots of other things. Boiled peanuts and cracklins are my low life foods that I love.

You're entitled to your opinion, right or wrong.

I prefer mine boiled in seafood boil and will boil them for a couple hours, shut off the fire and let them soak until I like how they turned out while testing some along the way

I prefer my boiled peanuts to be a little resistant to the bite and not mush like I've had some that were sold roadside.

My wife likes them if I let them dry a bit overnight and them pop some on a baking sheet and dry them out a bit in the oven the next day.

Was watching We Are Marshall the other night and when Red stops for gas the night of the crash he asks the old man about the boiled peanuts. “Help yourself. Regular on the left Cajun on the right.”

Now I know damn good and well there was no such thing as “Cajun” flavored boiled peanuts in 1970. Must less in rural West Virginia.

My mother in law makes some good ones and I got her recipe one day.

She said you get some peanuts and boil em, and put some salt and spice in there and just keep tasting them until they are right. She is older...my wife and I told her we really appreciated the info.

3 to 3.5 lbs of green peanuts
5 oz LA Fish Fry Crab, Shrimp, Crawfish boil
1.5 oz of kosher salt.
Water to cover

*Add all in an electric pressure cooker

*Set pressure cooker for 40 minutes

*Allow natural release for 15 minutes

*After that release the pressure and remove the lid

*Let soak an hour (or more)

Perfect boiled peanuts everytime.

STOVETOP:

All the same, bring to boil, let simmer 3 hours. Let soak 1 hour.

If I cook them on the stove I’ll add crab boil as they soak just to avoid making the whole house smell. But boil in water with salt for 2 hours roughly depending on size. Soak for as long as you want.

A lady at work makes hers with smoked neck bones and pig tails. Now I've never cared too much for boiled peanuts on account of I prefer roasted peanuts. But I'll be damned if these aren't the best damn boiled peanuts I've ever tasted. They converted me.

Now I think I’ve found my new recipe.
