You know what really grinds my gears? scrolling through a dissertation to get the recipe

Nana used to make this pot roast when we were kids. Everytime I make it, it takes me back to the sights and smells of Sunday in her house. The floral pattern sofa, the dish of hard candies Pop used to sneak from before dinner.
Family was always important to my family. And because of that, so many memories were made over a good meal. This one has a particular place in my heart....
4 paragraphs and a few ads later here's the damn recipe.
/food rant. Enjoy your day

every.
single.
recipe.
have 100 upvotes.
i wish there was a 'bullshite' blocker i could install in my browser that would skip down to the actual recipe.
its even worse because there's a bunch of ads and 'related crap' at the bottom, so if you zoom all the way down you miss it that diretion to.
the actual recipe is somewhere in the middle.
when the frick did this start? i know 5-10 years ago i would google a recipe and would actually get the recipe.
i copy stuff i like into a notes app on my phone so i dont have to go through it again but i hate it.

At least 5 years ago is when this trend started. It's kinda bizarre that every recipe website is like that.

PREACH!
I almost had a meltdown in Rouses the other day because I was so frustrated that I could not get all the ingredients in one chart. It was broken up in an article over like 15 pages.
THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

All about that money, you spend more time on the website because of it. Which generates more positive data for ad sells.
Annoying as frick though.
Same bullshite annoys me with click bait and news articles. 300 ads to read a 2 page article.

Almost every recipe page has a "jump to recipe" button

If there isn’t a “jump to recipe” I don’t even bother.

thats the worst when you're trying to pull up the MOTHERfrickING recipe while you're trying to shop for the blessed mother ingredients and you're blocking everyone who thinks you're just fricking around on your phone as you scroll to china on your stupid phone trying to find the ingredient list.
like a damn needle in a haystack

I just start scrolling as soon as it loads.

Most don't. It's the first thing I look for.

Also, a good portion of sous vide recipes first go out of their way explaining what sous vide is.

JusTheRecipe.com
It's not ideal - you have to actually paste the url of the recipe, and it gives you just the recipe. Not sure why they wouldn't just add in a google search engine on that page so that you can just search for a recipe, then pull just the recipe from the one you want.

Errbody needs to blog now. It's exhausting.

They’re cramming in as many SEO terms as possible.
I think it’s a warning to the credibility of the site. Want to know if it’s just house wife trying to make a buck with her fancy camera and mediocre cooking skills? Check how much scrolling is needed to get to the recipe.

I have the "Recipe Keeper" app on my phone that I use to keep all my recipes.
When you click add a new recipe there is an option to type in a link and it will extract all the recipe info for you (i.e. name ingredients, directions, picture, etc.). I would definitely recommend the app.
