This goes to show you that people base their decisions on the idea of a place, and not the food.

Pretty much this for this type of list.

ETA: For New Orleanians, it's like the voting in the "Best Of" Gambit restaurant edition. Besides being limited to advertisers, the voters are just drones who vote the same old crap (and much of it is crap).

List is horrible and as someone said, completely skewed by where the voters are from.

That said, I've been to Franklin, Uchi, Gus's.

I am assuming the list was created by amount of reviews/ratings... guess it makes sense then why there is such a high CA/HI representation.

So, so, so bad.

This list is heavily skewed by the demographic of people who use Yelp, followed by those who fall in love with the most instagramable/buzzy place around

How the hell does California have so many and none in Louisiana? I'll calling bs on the yelp top 100.

Based on number of votes. California has so many more folks voting than anywhere else. There are better places to eat all over the country than some of these, but no one voting on them. I know places that score perfect 5 stars - just with only 20-30 people voting. They are still very good restaurants, just with a poor voter turnout.

I am sure everyone here agrees that the list is no way accurate identifying the top 100, just a decent way to identify places that score high on yelp ratings.

But we got Bob and Rob’s in San Diego carrying our mantle. So there’s that.

What’s with the random question marks, though?

3,8,12,72,80.
Only ones I've tried.
Biker Jims wasn't better than Dat Dog.
Oklahoma Joe's was really good.

Every time I come across an out of state poboy place with the wrong bread. I point it out to them and tell them to find a Vietnamese baker. Their Bahn MI is very close to poboy.

Specs in sunset valley has the best poboy in Austin. If you catch the person working the grill on a good day, he will overload the thing with a pound of fried shrimp

ETA: I know what I’m having for lunch

Kinda weird. I use Yelp when traveling and am in many of those cities fairly often.. and never been to a single restaurant on this list.

Wait. I’ve been to one on this new list. Modern Tea Room in Lancaster? I mean, it’s good but it’s fricking Lancaster. And it’s a sandwich restaurant with different iced teas. Of all the places I’ve been, that’s last I would have guessed to appear on this.

Never tried a poboy from Specs. Stuffed used to be in sunset valley and had a good poboy but they closed that location. St. Roch's on the east side is solid. They also do some good crawfish boils.

I agree Turf n Surf is pretty terrible for poboys.Their nachos are good if you're at lavaca and hungry. Overpriced once you add meat though.
