Or when they invite you for "BBQ" and really they just grill chicken and put on BBQ sauce while doing so.
This. My wife doesn't understand that BBQ means cooking it low and slow over coals or wood. She will cook chicken in a pan and dump Kraft original on it and call it BBQ. Or cook a pork roast in the crock pot and dump Kraft original in it and call it BBQ. Is it good, of course? Is it BBQ, no.

Locally sourced grates when it is abundantly clear that the establishment considers the weekly Sysco delivery as a local source.
Speaking of that a while back I read the 2 part series a reporter did on this trend along with farm to table. It was out of Tampa and while I was not shocked but basically every restaurant making the claim was lying. Even suppliers were lying about organic status of their produce.

I had a friend who would say he was cooking "fried dead chicken" or grilling "dead cow meat."
I found it amusing.

also abhor coo-chon instead of co-chon de lait. You often find the same person who says coo-chon also says "pee-row" instead of lightly voicing the hard g like most actual French speakers who say the word: pee-rawg.

When cocktails as are described as "craft"; its a cocktail, do you mean to tell me that your restaurant has non-craft cocktails? Is that were the jug margarita comes in?
Also, abuse of the word tapas (meaning and pronunciation), and when a menu has "chef's ______" (as if the maître d' were the other option for menu planning/ingredient selection).

I cooked some chicken a few weeks ago on the grill. Finished it off with some sweet baby ray's and you would have thought I hung the moon when my wife tasted it. She asked what I did differently. I told her I didn't use Kraft. I can't stand that stuff, but for some reason it is all she will ever buy. I think she just sees all the selection we have and gets confused and instinctly grabs Kraft Original.
Although I did almost divorce her when she asked for sauce on the ribs I smoked.

Epicurean and foodie rub me the wrong way. Don't know why...they just do.

Crayfish and pee-can are like fingernails on a chalk board to me. I'm not normally bothered too much by food terms gone bad, but those two are knife sharp.

It has always annoyed me when I order 'tea' and then have to specify that I want 'unsweetened tea.'

A pee can is what old people used to keep by the bed in case they had to "go" in the middle of the night.

Why? It's typically served sweetened or unsweetened in the South.

Dont know... it also annoys me when I order my kids milk and they immediately ask "plain or chocolate?"
I know they are asking because there is a percentage of people out there incapable of specifying what they want and are then upset when they don't receive it, but it's just always annoyed me.

When I hear that, I remember Emeril saying on his show that pee-cans are for truck drivers.

Two that piss me off in general for some reason are creme fraiche and compote.
Over used and tired. Not really a saying but just annoying
