Why don't more restaurants serve Salisbury steak?

It's a delicious dish, especially when paired with mac-n-cheese. My favorite TV dinners were always the ones featuring Salisbury steak.

It's like a golden corral or cafeteria kinda meal.

I love it though.

Swanson's got the copyright on it and they're not giving up that cash cow.

Because most of them want their customers to live so they can return at a later date

Is it more of a northern thing? I remember my church growing up doing salisbury steak dinners for fundraisers and stuff. Hamburger steaks seem to be more common down here. So not the same.

I had one yeaterday as a lunch special at TARC in Houma

Salisbury Steak with onion gravy
Smothered Potatos
Green Beans
Homemade roll
water w/ lemon

All that for a grand total of.......

$7.50, for a sit down meal you can't beat it.

Only bad thing about their lunch specials is that you cant change anything. I wanted a green salad instead of the roll, Misty wasn't going for that shite!

What's the difference? Salisbury steak is hamburger.

Last time I had it was at a Luby's. Bit down on two of what appeared to be steel balls the size of bird shot.

It was near closing, and the manager was doing paperwork in a booth. When I left, I told him that the cow they made the Salisbury steak with must have been killed with a No. 6 shotgun shell. I dropped the pellets on his table and walked away as they bounced.

The look on his face was priceless. He was probably shocked that I didn't demand a free meal or threaten to sue them.

There is definitely a difference. It's like Salisbury steak is processed. Every hamburger steak I have ever had was basically a hamburger patty with gravy on top and served with mashed potatoes. The only Salisbury I have had was in a frozen dinner or from Luby's and they are not like a hamburger patty but not like a steak either.

hamburger steak is usually like a regular hamburger patty with just salt/pepper and covered with gravy/onions.

salisbury steak is like individually sliced pieces of meatloaf, that usually has more filler (bread crumbs, veggies, etc) in the mix.
