I’ve eaten at the Sandestin location 3 or 4 times and he’s been there every time. Maybe it’s just coincidence but it doesn’t seem like he spends as much time in NOLA anymore.

David Slater lives in NOLA and runs the day to day operations for him. Emeril is in town pretty frequently though.

Correct, but he moved to NOLA in his early 20's and lived there until a few years ago. I was just wondering whay he moved.

One mid afternoon about day 5 in a 7 day family vacation me and the fat bro-in-law slipped away to the Acme Oyster House in Baytown Wharf to pound Budlight and eat raw oysters. About 3 Budlights and 2 dozen into the deal in walks Emeril Lagasse. He bellies up to the bar next to us and orders a dozen raw and a Corona. He was friendly and commented on my LSU hat. I lied about really enjoying Emeril’s restaurant, although I had never been. Still haven’t. He drank Coronas on pace with our Budlights until some other dude came in and they got a table. That’s my cool Emeril Lagasse story bro

Yes. Kept a home in NOLA also until 2011. Then gave up both residences for Florida.

Nice

Btw, his original restaurant in New Orleans is excellent. Top notch food, world class wine list, and impeccable service.

We usually go to his Emeril's New Orleans Fish House whenever we're in Las Vegas. It's in the MGM Grand. It's good, not great, but a lot of fun if you go for the Happy Hour menu and eat at the bar.

I've never eaten at the Orlando location, but multiple times I've looked at the menu posted outside and peered in through the large panes of glass. Most every patron had a glass of wine in front of them and seemed like the place was doing well. Being from LA, I didn't feel like eating jambalaya and gumbo on the road, since I make it at home. I have been to Delmonico, NOLA, and Emeril's fish house in the MGM.

Funny enough, I lived in New Orleans for 4+ years and the only Emeril restaurant I've eaten at in New Orleans is Meril. Coastal Italian was a lot better than Meril, IMO.

He still has a place in New Orleans but spends most of his time in San Destin. Stick your head in Vics I've seen him there a few times...

Thanks.

I'm born and raised in New Orleans, but haven't lived there in over 30 years. Thought about moving back, but decided against it. I was just wondering if Emeril left because of Katrina, or something else.

I think he’s more or less retired. Fishing & kids, doing charity stuff, & making money on all his products & appearances

He’s on his third wife, his youngest set of kids are in their teens. He’s at a point where he can do whatever he wants. Wife #3 is from the MS Gulf Coast, went to Ole Miss.
