Lighten up Francis, it's a grocery store not a strip club.

I don't think strip mall means what you think it means.

You sure aren't helping to discourage people... They did raise over $2k for Wounded Warrior.

It's not the lottery. I won the last 2 years. Last year, i was sick and didn't make it, but my name got called for the Sam Adams Utopias, and for something else. Wasn't there to collect.
Didn't go last night. Nothing i'm willing to waste that much money on.

That's the lower end of retail price nationwide. I've seen as high as $75.

Every price for everything is too high. Especially the bourbon. But, there are saps willing to pay for it...

For a case? Please don't tell me they are trying to sell a bottle or 4 pack for $65. A case, i can understand.

a single bottle of rare

It's a single bottle in a wooden box. Is it that mind blowing? I didn't think so personally, though you wouldn't catch me buying one.

For a bottle of beer? Absolutely. I got to hand it to Goose Island. They can sure market their shite.
There is not a single bottle of beer, other than maybe a rare Cantillon, that i would spend that kind of money on. And it better be 750 mL.
I googled the cost of a 4 pack of BCBS and average is about $24.99. Is the "rare" some new version of the stout?
$65 for a barrel aged stout...

it was aged in 35 year old Heaven Hill barrels that they forgot about or just found or something
it will never be made again
so yeah...while a lot of it is marketing and hype, there is some "rareness" about it in that there probably won't be any other 35 year old barrels found anytime soon

At least I got to enjoy some Pumpkinator.

Considering the price for all the bourbons (and a lot of the beers) is significantly below the secondary value, you definitely would not be a sap to pay it.

Yeah, i googled and found the description.

You can say that about a lot of beers. Whether it's a process or specifically a barrel.

I'm curious if there is a discernible difference in the "rare" vs. the traditional. I'm talking blind taste test.
The beer/bourbon/whiskey "rarity" stuff is going overboard IMO. Look at Pappy. Has anything changed in their formula in the last 12 years? Because i remember going to Churchill's and buying a bottle of old rip van winkle for a buddy for his birthday for $40.
I'm not saying these beverages aren't outstanding or world class, i just find the "rare" moniker to be a little ridiculous at times. But hey, if you can sell a bottle of whiskey for $300-400 and someone will buy it, then more power to ya.
