Went to the WF on Severn yesterday for the first time in months and months: whew, it has gone downhill. Produce dept still looked good, but seafood cases smelled, bulk section was a messy disaster with spilled stuff, broken nutbutter machine, and not a single working pen to write labels. Butcher cases were sparse, not a speck of turkey to be found (besides previously packed frozen). What’s up with this store? Arabella location is still tidy, but mgmt is asleep on the job at Severn.

The pens are unforgivable.

Fire everyone.

Was it possibly because it was late Saturday and all the soccer moms had picked over everything?

Have experienced that at almost all stores.

Pens and stinky case aren't excused, but explains some of the other.

Seems like all have gone downhill since amazon took over.

Had a ladybug in my wrap last week. Still ate it obviously but I’m not sure how often something like that happens

There was definitely a “hippy pride” among the staff in working for WF. Uppity sometimes but the stores were top notch.

I wonder how much of that has degraded in working for Amazon.

Re: hippie pride, yes.....I can remember the days when their employees were happy, highly visible, and knowledgeable. That hasn’t been the case for some time, and yesterday’s experience was on par with a suburban WalMart. No baskets collected, untidy store overall, and general meh customer service in departments and at checkout. Or maybe the Met location is suffering due to Trader Joe’s being so close? Dunno.

The Whole Foods locations (except for the flagship) have all gone down hill here in Austin.

It’s now mostly a glorified premade meal joint.

I wish HEB would expand the Central Market brand

Uptown location hot food is a step above anything Golden Corral makes but the meat and produce are usually on point. I have noticed the wine and beer dept are slacking since Amazon takeover. I just Goto Hoppers across the street now for some vine.

I like the coarse ground almond butter, fresh out of the machine. The only reason I went to the dang store was to buy almond butter. So it was extra annoying to encounter a broken machine on top of the other disappointments. I couldn’t find bulk valrhona chocolate (WF used to sell it, as well as El Rey, by the lb), either.

ETA: dunno how the BR location is faring, I never go there. But I’ve been to the Fresh Market at Perkins Rowe a couple times in the last 6 mos—good product selection, tidy, nice store. I need to check out the one on Vets in Metairie.

I was at the Baton Rouge store yesterday. Looked fine. Bought some nice mussels. Although I just realized I bought a jar of pickles that said “Best before June 1” on June 1.

Who's gonna be the first to venture out to Aldi in Marrero when it's built? Cheaper than Trader Joe's.
