I don't blame a brewery for charging $23 for a limited release DDH, especially if they know the demand is there.
Agreed - the shite will sell out. Value is all relative to the buyer.
I think we all agree that the price floors rising for special releases is concerning - $23 is high. I follow a lot of breweries nationwide and you typically don't see this much of a markup on their limited releases (although you do see some touch $20).

[Parish] in the league of [Treehouse]
Whoa, whoa, whoa... pump the breaks!
They (Parish) may have national interest, but breweries like Treehouse have an international desire.
I get what you are trying to say but, I don't think you can compare Parish & a brewery like Treehouse. They're not in the same league, he'll they're not even playing the same game.

Edit: and geauxpack just nailed it. Parish is nationwide. Look at the comments on that IG post. People from all over trying to trade for these beers. They’re in the league of tree house, et al now. Not just south LA.

You will purchase a Pre-Sale “ticket” for $1.64 and add on additional items as to which products you would like to purchase.
So after numerous fiascos with their preorders, they finally switched to Eventbrite
The “ticket” thing is an Eventbrite thing

On this note- Other Half in Brooklyn is on the level of Treehouse. Their former head brewer who now runs All Relation in New Orleans is on that level as well.
His releases typically go for $16-20 per 16 oz 4 pack. Still expensive but more reasonable and in line with Other Half pricing
Edit- when I say level here, I’m talking about the quality of the beers coming out- doesn’t have that following YET . Only been open since November 2019

I'm sorry man, I'm not knocking Parish at all - they've put out some good stuff. But they aren't even close to Treehouse.

It may not be to the same scale, and I’m really not even comparing/arguing that.
Craft beer is overwhelmingly regional. Most of the really good stuff is available only from the brewery itself and doesn’t hit distribution. There are select breweries that have reached a level where people around the country follow their releases and try to get them or trade for them. Parish has reached that level. That’s all I’m saying. They aren’t just making beer for Lafayette or south LA or houston, etc so their market has become so much bigger. Meaning the demand for their product is growing/has grown faster than their supply so they can charge $23/4 pack and likely sell out online within 5 minutes.
Yeah, especially when people thought it was for them reopening, not just releasing 2 beers.
I would even think it’s more effective to say last week “on Tuesday the 19th, we will be opening pre orders for DDH ghost.” Build specific hype for a week instead of abstract hype for 6 days and specific hype for a day.

No doubt about that
I’m thinking they’re bored AF with the shut downs etc.
But to countdown an announcement of a presale and not the even the presale itself is definitely gay

In terms of clipping one part of the post out of context to fit an argument? No, probably not.
In terms of having national appeal and being a part of a beer trade much larger than just the surrounding region, which is clearly what I meant in context? Absolutely.

I agree with the fact that they have a national appeal, but many many breweries do. That's not really that high of a standard in the beer world at this point.
You are mighty defensive of Parish. I like a lot of their beers, I'm not even saying anything bad about them. Calm it down, buddy.

We need a good Parish bashing thread and this is the perfect reason to do it

Not only will it sell out, but It will sell out before you can blink an eye at $23/ 4 pack.
The Houston shitlords gobble it up at all the releases and mule it back to TX

Imagine driving 3+ boring hours to buy Parish beer.

This is irrelevant to what I said. They’re still making beers for people outside of their region so they can charge more than others who don’t have that appeal. I would bet, however, that the % of breweries with such appeal would be lower than you think. Most cities have craft breweries on every corner. The bubble is massive. Nowhere near a majority of these breweries have such appeal though.

I’m perfectly calm. You took a part of what I said out of context just to laugh at it so I called you out on it. I’m having a rational discussion. Not blindly shitting on something =/= being feverishly defensive of it. Defensive would be you taking my post out of context because I dared to mention parish and treehouse in the same sentence.
You’re being very disingenuous here, and I’m not exactly sure why. I haven’t really said anything unreasonable or untrue.

It’s sad but true.
Not exaggerating but At the DDH ghost releases a large number of people are from other states. I’ve been sandwiched in between large groups from Austin, Tx to mobile, Al to pensacola to Atlanta etc.
That’s why we can’t have nice things.

0 chance I do this.
BR baws do have a straight beeline to Broussard tho.
I'd drive if it was only 40mins or so.

This. I can’t find their shite anywhere in DFW, idk if I’m looking in the wrong place or what, definitely could be that, but I’d have no problem paying their prices.
Posted on 5/18/20 at 1:45 pm to McCaigBro69
It isn’t in distro in DFW. Only houston for now.

The more ridiculous thing is that they had a social media countdown all week just to announce that they are releasing 2 beers: A beer they have already made multiple times and another beer, to be announce at a later date
lol, I thought this was ridiculous too. Maybe the hype machine will finally die down if they're resorting to that type of marketing...
The price sucks but until ppl stop paying it and the beer sits on shelves it'll never come down.
