Saw some the other day for 69.99. Is it worth the price?

I mean, if you don’t even know the name, you probably shouldn’t buy it.

You talking about 10year WhistlePig Rye Whiskey? All of the WP ryes are great, but there are better values out there.

ETA: that is a really good price for the WP 10 Year though, if that is what you are trying to ask about. Buy it.

Well, Its just a whiskey bought from Canada and then aged and bottled by WP. They are distilling their own whiskey but there isn't much of it around right now. And the founder of WP is no longer involved as its owned by a financial firm and the master distiller who developed their aging program passed away. So $70 seems way too much IMO.

All of the WP is overpriced IMO, but that is a good price for that bottle. It is good stuff, but too expensive IMO.

My favorite "value" rye is Rittenhouse. Its good and strong and it is around $23 here. Hard to beat for a regular drinking rye.

I'm interested in a bottle of this. Any other rye's or bourbons you really recommend for $40 or less?

Russell Reserve rye runs about $50 and is one of my favorites.

Not a huge fan of their bourbon, but Bulleit makes a great rye.

No. It's a $30ish bourbon, at best.

It's a great whiskey, don't listen to the hipsters and whiskey snobs.

Agree with this. I don’t like their regular bourbon all that much, but their rye is great for a regular rotation.

Old Forester Rye is another one that punches above its weight at ~$21.

You mean MGP makes a good rye. Bulleit buys from this Indiana bourbon factory and bottles it.

Buy it...

I’m an unapologetic WP fan. Have been to the Farm twice now for private barrel selections.

I think the 10 is probably the best value in Rye and that’s a great price for it.

Things are only getting better from them. New Master Distiller Pete Lynch is doing some killer cask treatments and infused some much needed creative energy. Recently tried a private cask aged in Amburana that tasted like straight up Snickerdoodle cookies. Fricking amazing stuff coming soon.

If you stumble across their 10yo store picks they are consistently amazing. Often 12-15 year old juice. The barrel we picked last month was 15.5 years old. You don’t get that for $75 any more.
