I thought the same thing but I'm guessing the nose was on par before he actually went through with drinking. That might be the best rye I've had!

The roadie wine that I had after picking up pizza for dinner passed the test, so I figured I might as well have a good pour as my first enjoyable pour in the past 2 weeks.

It was between that and the 9 yr bourbon

I'm 3 pours into mine . No regrets. Dough, some spice, and dark fruit. Oily and rich.

So after having sampled many of the new Maisano releases, I ended up walking out with this one. They still had some of their older white port finishes and it was really really good but this one had something extra. The guy behind the counter told me before this release came out, the white port was his favorite but this pineau finish was his new top favorite. After I sampled it I bought it so I guess I agreed lol.

Damn, that's high praise. The white port is great. Did you happen to try any of the Kluke's?

on vacation. I haven’t posted the outside pictures because I figured people aren’t interested in hearing my tasting notes on the maker’s lemonade I’ve been downing on the beach.

Yes. Tried both the barrel proof and regular bottle. Both were very good but neither struck me as a must buy since I already knew I was getting the Starlight. The barrel proof to me was the better bottle. Naturally will get more from a higher proof but oddly the burn wasn’t as prevalent as was in the lower proof.

Ha yep, the only real difference has been the timing. The Cannatas ER should be dropping soon. The BT pick is a good one.

Anyone tried JT Meleck's new Rice Whiskey yet?

Picked up a bottle last night, and I have to say, it's definitely one of my favorite spirits overall. Very smooth.

It was way better than I was expecting from past LA whiskeys. I don’t think it’s worth $50 but it’s definitely something I would keep at my house and drink.

I think it's decent. Would probably pick up a bottle if I saw one just to support local. But, if I didn't have any local interest I don't think I'd buy it.
