They just do temperature cycling in their warehouses, which is supposedly why it doesn't taste so young.

They have some creative ways to mask it. Look at the toasted Penelope its only 4-5yr and it drinks pretty good for what it is IMO

Still Austin is a 2yo whisky, but it drinks well due to the heat. I've read articles in the past of how distillers are trying to find new ways to age faster with heat technology in order to keep up with demand. Once they figure that out we will see a big product boom.

Yes age is important, but it doesn't tell the entire story. This is why we can get a great bourbon that's 4yrs old while Scotch and Irish require 10 to compare. That colder climate requires longer ageing.

While I personally don't get caught up on the age dictating if I like something, I do dislike the lack of transparency lately. Tell us what you are putting in the bottle. Old Charter went from 10 to 8 to NAS. Why? So they can mix with young whiskey in order to keep up with demand. Ok that's fine, but tell us this is all I am asking.

And don't expect me to pay 8-year-old prices for a bottle aged 3 years, especially if you keep the proof low.

2pd is one I got for half price at a neighborhood Walmart a while back (rum cask finish). Initial pour was too sweet. I don't regret the purchase given the discount, but after revisiting, it's still too sweet for multiple pours. Definitely a dessert drink.

Believe there was a lawsuit over the 8 “seasons” still being on the label but not sure what ever came of it

for the price it's hard to beat for a cask strength. If it was priced $20 higher I would punt. That said, it's a good pour but not overly complex.

for clarification, it's prob the best priced cask strength I have had at $50. I would buy it again and did.
