So better than Rare Breed and 1920 (I know it isn’t technically cask strength but close enough)?

I’ll try it if I see it then I am told a large drop of this is hitting for the cold weekend. Blue Run Cask Strength is a really good cask as well.

no, but I can't get either of those around $48.

The barrel process is different with SA, being in Texas.

It's priced right.

I'd say
rare
1920
SA
not looking at price

I'll try ordering a couple of bottled just to see if you are correct.

I don't regret the purchase given the discount, but after revisiting, it's still too sweet for multiple pours. Definitely a dessert drink.

I happily pay the $80 for this, and I would buy a case at $40. It’s up there with Midwinter as my two favorite American whiskeys. Yes it’s sweet, but that’s a good thing. I love the maple that comes out of this. I guess I lean towards the sweeter stuff based on my love of this and MWND

it's prob the best priced cask strength I have had at $50.

That must be an introductory price. It's $58 in Texas at Total Wine and pushing $68 in some smaller liquor stores.

And don't expect me to pay 8-year-old prices for a bottle aged 3 years, especially if you keep the proof low.

This fall/winter has been a “going to the mattresses” season for me. Store picks are fetching $50-80 for 2-5 year juice. I want to support those stores but not if everyone (distillers and pickers) are rushing the product.

As most have said, purchase and sip what you like! I am not trying to stand in the way...prices on everything at the store have grown and I suppose bourbon is no different. However, I’m done with buying a 2-3 year pick without tasting it. I’ve just had more misses than hits on those in the $50-65 price range.

I’ll seek out the occasional ER or BT and grab my EWBiB (my Rouses has it mislabeled for $12.99/fifth) and then frequent places like Martin’s who offer a sample before purchase.

I just hate the new game I suppose, though it’s been headed that way for years.

Rare Breed is $46.99 at Martin's baw.

I can get 1920 for ~$52 around here, which is close enough for comparison, IMO.

Anyway, I was just curious how it compares to those, thanks for the info.

Exactly....and it kills me cause there is a store around here that charges $160 for blantons and $75 or so for weller SR.

A new liquor store just opened up near me in Alabama who looked at me with a straight face and said "$200" when I held up the blantons bottle on their shelf. I put it down, laughed back at them and walked out the door. They got pissed when I left a negative review on their FB page when I said they are taking advantage of people with those kinds of prices.
