Tried a new single malt scotch tonight. Glendronach 12yr. It's very good. Like Macallan 12 but better.

Just popped the cork on my Stagg JR barrel proof! This is the first high proof bourbon I've ever tried. I added more ice than usual. Wow this stuff is stout. Not an every night drink.

you probably couldn't have picked a worse one. Jr is very rough, don't let it deter you from trying other barrel proofers.

That one is pretty potent...

If you like that level of heat, spring for an EH Taylor Barrel Proof...$80 range, but really great stuff.

There are a couple of better bottles that are harder to find, but you shouldn't have to hunt too hard to find that one.

For a cheaper bottle with extra bite, there's always Old Grand Dad 114...around $20-25.

Saw this posted, converted from an old piano. It would make a good bourbon storage unit...

That is set up for wine, but I bet you could make some changes , that would be better for bourbon. Add cabinet doors and shelves on the bottom for extra storage.

This works better. Storage in the doors for 30 tall bottles. Underneath storage for 20 short bottles. Bar top area for another 25 bottles. 25 slot wine storage area. Plus other spots for glasses, mixers, etc.

The doors fold back 180 degrees so that the interior storage is flush against the side of the furniture, with the outside of the doors facing out? How much clearance do you need on each side to open and close the doors?

I go with the storage and bar separate approach. Luckily I have a good woman who allows this much space for it

To open the doors to 180 degrees you would need about 15 inches of clearance on each side. As you can see I do not have that much space so I can only open the doors to 90 degrees. I may end up moving the cabinet but I really would like to keep it in this space. The cabinet is 40 inches wide so optimally you would need about 6 feet of space.

Unbelievably smooth
