Ok I know this is the Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch thread but I have a question about Gin. I need to buy someone a nice bottle of gin and I know nothing about Gin. This guy can buy anything gin that he wants but I'm trying to show my appreciation in a really nice way. Recs please?

I like Hendricks, Tanqeuray No. 10, and Citadelle. Though I will say that for traditional gin drinkers the first two would be a safer pick.

Hey No8. How big is that glencairn glass you got there. I bought one and it's only 6oz. I'd like a 10oz size. And more I read about Blanton's......must try. No bottles anywhere here.

Blanton's Gold or SFTB from across borders?

Here's what I found out...can't ship booze via UPS from Canada to US, honestly that is. Maybe you can hide it in a checked bag, but we have all carry ons and still have Vancouver & Seattle to hit.

I've seen gold twice in the airport. Gonna depend on what I can do on Amtrak from Vancouver to Seattle across the border. If I can easily bring one across, will try that next.

I have brought whiskey back from Europe. When I got to the customs guy I was very honest that I had 5 liters. He said that I would need to fill out a customs sheet and pay duty on it. The duty was like ~$3 or something ridiculously low. He then realized that would require him to actually do some work and then just said "Oh never mind and waved me through"

I'm actually looking order a few bottles online through Bestofwhisky.com. Just wondering if anyone's had experience with it or similar sites? Duties paid/total extra cost per bottle (not including shipping)/etc?

1PD ...the most amazing rye I may have ever had.

Single barrel store pick at 119.9 proof.
Unbelievably delicious..and going to get more bottles soon. THis is nothing like the regular version of WP. THis store got a honey barrel for sure. So DAMN good.

I haven't seen any WP anywhere. You guys must have some wise-guys-back-alley deals going down on all these rares. Or Texas is just outside the circle really bad by decades. Oh wait....might have a bite of Blanton's on the hook....

Nice.

Edit: both that WLW and Stagg continue to look like better pours than any of the other btac in color at least.

Please share opinions on all of those, srs
