was just coming to ask what impact does the type of glass make.
This article from whiskey wash might be a good read on the subject

Rounding out the hunt...ETH SB from will call downtown and a BONUS to try. A real good day as I'm pumped to try. The lone ETH bottle in all the H-Town Specs stores. I'm obviously late to the show this year. Anyone else reside in Houston on here? If so, any recs for stores other than Specs?

Comparing the Norlan and glencarian glasses. you do get two different experiences. Nose is almost nonexistent on the Norlan, but the initial flavors are much stronger.
After about 5-6 minutes you get a bit more nose on the Norlan, but not too much.

It's old tiki drink night at the Sisyphus home.
Mai Tai true to the 1944 Trader Vic recipe and for the wife the Missionary's Downfall from 1937.
Perfect for a hot night grilling and catching the wife up on House of Cards.

Here are my thoughts after doing a Norlan and Glencarian side-by-side with the four roses 2015 LE SmB and Elijah Craig BP batch 10.
Short answer to your question LC: Yes, but it truly depends on what you value.
Long answer: It is much more difficult to get any nose aromas from the Norlan. You practically have to stick your entire nose into the glass and tilt the bourbon to your nose. I found it's easier to get the nose after letting it sit in the glass for about 5 minutes.
However, there is a noticeable taste and finish difference. The full compliment of flavors hits you quicker and with a more robust profile in the Norlan. You still get them in the Glencarian, but they're much lighter and can be harder to detect. It seems the Norlan does a better job of limiting the air exposure to the bourbon.
I actually prefer the Glencarian sipping experience because I can sample smaller amounts at a time. With the Norlan it can be like a rocks glass and you can find yourself getting a large amount of bourbon when you weren't expecting it. However, I think that's more a byproduct of me being use to sipping from Glencarians. I'm interested to see if I change this opinion after using the Norlan more.
The obvious difference in taste and finish makes the Norlan worth it IMO, but if you enjoy getting into the different aromas that bourbons produce I'd keep the Glencarian around.

Nice, you in Japan yet?

Yep. Headed to Tokyo on a bullet train right now.
That was last night's damage plus a pour of i.w. Harper 12. Japan's whiskey bars are a step back into American whiskey history.
And there whiskey stores are straight up whiskey porn. I'm already waaaay over the limit and haven't set foot in tokyo yet

Booker's old fashioned. Thoughts are with all you baws. I'm honestly wondering for the first time if I'm lucky I left Louisiana almost three years ago.
