FPD anniversary edition. Got this from my best man last year on my wedding day and thought tonight would be a good one to finally break it open

How you like the la1? Gets a bad wrap here but I don't mind it.
First was lag distillers edition second was highland park 18 (really enjoying that one)

It's a little late but put all the bottles I got for my wedding together. Pretty satisfied with everything. I think my friends and family know me pretty well.

How do yall like that balvenie Caribbean cask and the 15 yr? I don't drink much scotch but I love the doublewood.

SMS approves of all the scotch talk.
My favorite scotch distillery is Talisker (overall). Followed closely by Glenfiddich (for value).
I am trying to like the Islays but not doing very well. All islays need age. Laph 18 is pretty good. Laph 10 is lighter fluid.
I am not personally a fan of Caribbean Cask Balvenie. I find it too sweet. Many others like it.
I am encouraged to see the NOLAGT is almost exclusively a scotch drinker know :).
I have reached the sweet 16 in my bourbon bracket. Started with 64 bourbons and played games. Completely blind with Mrs. SMS doing the pours for each game. I will do a full writeup on the results once completed.

I'm a bourbon drinker who occasionally drinks scotch and the Caribbean cask is delicious. One of my favorites. It definitely is sweet for a scotch but given my bourbon tastes it makes sense why I like it so much.

Finlay you took the bait...was wondering how many times I had to force down some scotch for you to make a comment

I have to agree. I don't have a ton of experience with scotch but Islays seem to be what I like. It started with High West Campfire. I really enjoyed the smokiness so I decided to try a real Islay. I bought a bottle called Cask Islay. Really liked it and killed it quickly. Then I tried Lagavulin 16 at a bar and absolutely loved it. It's delicious. I decided I needed my own bottle so I went to get one and while at the store I also picked up a bottle of Laph 10. fricking terrible. No idea how long it will take to get rid of.

I had some Lag 16 last night (you know... to remind my palate what good whiskey tastes like after all the bourbon I have been choking down recently) and Mrs. SMS wouldn't even let me sit on the same sofa with her. She was like "What the hell is that. It smells awful.". Realize that she has sat next to me drinking just about every whiskey there is. This is the first time she has ever banished me to the recliner.
I guess Mrs. SMS is not a fan of the Islays either.
