Any tips on a Manhattan? Just tried making first one. Not impressed.

2oz Bulleit Rye
1oz Sweet Vermouth
1 dash bitters
Garnish cherry

Too much Vermouth? Wrong whiskey? TIA

Rock Hill Farms is one of my favorites too. It use to be a daily drinker until it became a pain to find. I can finally stop nursing the last bottle I had.

Singer...the recipe I used calls for 3/4 ounce of vermouth

Don't know if 1/4 ounce would make that much difference

2 oz rye or high rye bourbon (I use Knob Creek 120)
1/2 oz red vermouth
Generous amt Regans Orange bitter 4 really good shakes
Dash Angostura
Stir with ice
Strain
Garnish with orange peel twist and Luxardo cherry.
This will make a very dry Manhattan. It will be light in color.

Who knows. I have been collecting for years and have bought from at least a dozen different places.

Old Forester Celebrates 15th Anniversary of Birthday Bourbon

quote:

The 2016 Birthday Bourbon expression is offered at 97 Proof, jointly determined by Brown-Forman Master Distiller Chris Morris and Old Forester Master Bourbon Specialist Jackie Zykan. This year marks Zykan's first involvement with the Birthday Bourbon release since joining the brand in 2015.

quote:

Each barrel in the Birthday Bourbon selections annually are drawn from the same day of production, this year's on June 4, 2004, leading to the 'vintage-dated' reference. The 2016 release of 93 barrels uniquely matured together on the 5th floor of Warehouse K at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville, KY. The lot was positioned near a window facing west allowing them to be sun kissed, yielding a deeper oak mouthfeel. This warm location provides this year's release with a deep, rich, oak forward personality.

Supposed to be the largest release ever. I'm hopeful to snag a bottle this year.
